Title: Icons...
Post by: x56h34 on November 14, 2003, 10:40:52 PM
During transfer of the contents of my OS3.9 SYS: partition from one hard drive to another, the nice SYS: boing-ball drawer icon is lost. Well, I did remember to copy and paste it by using Icon Information, then Paste Icon, then Save, however the damn thing wouldn't accept new settings but would keep the standard plain drive icon. It always gets pasted fine, but after clicking on Save, the old one returns.

Anyways, how can I do this and make it stick? :-)

It's the regular default OS3.9 disk icon used for the SYS: partition. It just won't move from the original SYS: partition on the old hard disk, to the new SYS: partition on another hard drive. I went to Icon Information of the old SYS: partition, copied the icon, went to Icon Information of the new SYS: partition, pasted it there, saw it change, saved it, saw it unchange to old. :-(

copy all icons in prefs/env-archive/sys/ on your old SYS: to your new.....and try once more copying the disk.info file using diskmaster or shell

what I would do is:

1. open a shell

2. CD to the old sys:

3. type "copy disk.info sys:"

That will copy the old sys disk icon to the new sys partition. Im not sure but you might need to reboot to see the change...

Maybe not reated, but it might be to do with the newicons thing.
I forget how this is done on WB 3.9.  I think it's built in, but you have to enable newicons in the prefs??

Under OS 3.1, etc, the icon had both an old image and a new image.  If you didn't run Newicons, you only saw the old image.

Have a look at that if copying over the disk.info doesn't work.
