Same here... Double crossed

Amiga. Doublecrossed. Hahahahahaaaa!!!!
-
HAHA just tried it still down. Wow can't even pay for a bloody website, what a bunch of loosers!!!!
-
What were you doing there anyway? looking at the wonderful programs they have, like "snowman maker"?
-
From their secret base under the Canadian Shield, they are uploading a new website at 300bps which will unveil their new killer device. The AmiSlate!
-
Perhaps it's like when the apple store goes down... Maybe there's a new product launch?
Or maybe they just inept at web hosting.
Which is more likely I wonder? ;)
-
I wouldn't get excited just yet. The whois record form amiga.com states that the domain expires in June 2011. So I suspect that this is most likely a temporary problem with the hosting provider rather than them failing to maintain their hosting.
Pinging amiga.com results in inconsistent replies for me:
PING amiga.org (174.120.31.90): 56 data bytes

so I suspect this is a routing issue or maybe even somebody carrying out a DDOS.

And i SO was considering buying Telnet Force from their shop. Superb app! ;)
Now, let's get some fireworks, beer & popcorn ready

I hear they had so many people rushing to buy Telnet Force, it overloaded the server and it blew up.

Must be all that traffic from Europe. "Amiga" is the 3rd most recognized brand in Europe, don't you know?

That's true actually. It's just behind Microsoft and Coca Cola. It just beat Disney to third place thanks to the media frenzy surrounding the release of Telnet Force.

I hope this Amiga.com will stop and disappear, they serve no purpose to Amiga "brand". The "products" they offer, well I can't see any sense in these. They're pathetic!

Me neither.

I'm going to be really dissapointed when it re-appears.........It would be just too awesome for them to be gone for good.
-
Don't get excited it will be back up, once Silly Billy finds new investors to
steal working capital from.
Silly Billy was surfing porn sites on their server again and crashed it.
-PERSONAL ATTACK REMOVED- Maybe he will sell coupons or T-shirts so he can afford to hire a pc tech to fix it.
God forbid Silly Billy get a real job, and stop living off the amiga community
while providing nothing in return for us.
I hope it stays down, but I think its just down so they can add snowman maker 2.0 to their list of incredible next generation applications.

Real classy...
@mods
What hashappened with amiga.org lately, has the moderation team went on holliday?
It's just no fun reading these kind of remarks, we'll all be glad if the current incarnation of Amiga Inc dissapears, but come on.
-quoted PERSONAL ATTACK REMOVED-
haywirepc, doesn't Bill McEwen have kids too which you can drag into this?
Where is the proportion in this?
Are the site posting rules just for show?

Did you report it? Moderation is not a paid job and the moderators don't live here 24/7.

Guys & Gals,
Please remember that one man's humor is another man's personal attack. Things like reference to a spouse's appearance should be off limits, per site TOS. I hate moderating and I rarely do it, I like free flowing free speech. Don't make me moderate things :-/

Ah for Jesus sake lighten up. There's far too much moderation on amiga.org. This site is getting dull enough as it is.

There are TOS and they are fairly liberal. If we don't enforce them, people get upset. If we do enforce them, people get upset. No win situation, the website is intended to be family friendly, so the TOS is enforced.

I have moderated 3 posts in the last year iirc, yours was #3. I suggest you read the Posting Guidelines (http://www.amiga.org/index.php?pageid=posting_guidelines) and get on with enjoying yourself.

It may surprise you to learn that moderators are basically just users like yourself and aren't surgically wired into the site :) Seriously though, there is a "report post" feature. If you see something out of order, use that and then all the moderators are alerted.
-
Oh dear, no need
-
I apologise for my "Personal attack" is really was meant to be humerous but I see that it was pretty mean spirited on reflection.
STILL...
I thought silly billy was exempted from personal attacks in the tos from what I have seen posted here before, it sure seems like he is.
Besides this, Silly Billy has owed me a t-shirt for years. I think until he gives me the t-shirt, I should be allowed to attack him personally all I want, but I don't want to cause any trouble here so I will just say that he is a less than good person that has done nothing useful for our community for years and years and years, other than trying to make a living off the amiga name and trademarks.
He has tried to stop amiga os4 development, tried to screw hyperion out of years or work, tried to make a living off the back of the community, and more. None of this is personal attacks, they are simply facts.
I hope he gets a real job and stops trying to suck the amiga name, trademark, patents and legacy dry for his own benefit.
Enough said...

Amiga.com still down.
Things are getting interesting.
-
I hope they STAY down, until someone who really cares comes along and obtains the domain name.
-
It could be a great domain name for the long evicted lesbians that tryed to buy Amiga.org a long time ago ;)
I believe this thread has caused too much Tension to some :)
-
I think they must be down for good?

We can but hope!

Might this have anything at all to do with http://www.amigaos4.com/ being down, too?

I just did a quick whois search on amiga.com and got this:
amiga.com
This domain name has been suspended due to invalid Whois information.
If you are the registrant of this domain name please contact us at: mailto:(http://source.domaintools.com/email.pgif?md5=ad206854c3f6f862d6308f0856729e71&face=arial&size=9&color=000000&bgcolor=FFFFFF&face=arial&size=9&color=0000FF&bgcolor=FFFFFF&format[]=underline&format[]=transparent&format[]=transparent) (http://www.domaintools.com/registrant-search/?email=ad206854c3f6f862d6308f0856729e71)>(http://source.domaintools.com/email.pgif?md5=ad206854c3f6f862d6308f0856729e71&face=arial&size=9&color=000000&bgcolor=FFFFFF&face=arial&size=9&color=0000FF&bgcolor=FFFFFF&format[]=underline&format[]=transparent&format[]=transparent) (http://www.domaintools.com/registrant-search/?email=ad206854c3f6f862d6308f0856729e71).
amiga.com is also listed as being available for purchase. All the "whois" info shows "UNKNOWN" so who knows. Hopefully they are gone. :)
-
Would be nice to see it taken over by a group (or person) who takes the "Amiga" name seriously for once and will bring something good to the scene.
The ssite that was online beforehand was tacky as hell and quite frankly p**s useless.
Totally agree with Bamiga2002.
-
Their contacts all had Amiga.com addresses, a bad move, especially when they couldn't maintain a mail server for more than a couple days. They were evicted from the rental space and their phone service disconnected. There is no real way to get in contact with Amiga Inc that doesn't involve mediums and Ouija boards...

I wouldn't bet on it. Then again, I wouldn't bet on the X1000 actually ever being available for sale.

Think about it for a minute, they can't even get something going on their own website.

Yes you are right :) that site pretty sucks - but maybe they are keeping the best for the later ;)

LOL! that one really got me laughing!
It's good thing Amiga inc. is gone now, finally we can have some development going on Amiga OS without Amiga inc. holding it back as it did for years.
-
Yo, McBill! The Amiga community is not really happy for you and they'll let you finish but.... Hyperion is the best Amiga successor of all time! OF ALL TIME!
-

Since they are paid till 2011, I doubt GoDaddy will do anything until 2011.

Why that is what that company does. They buy and sell domains
-

Yes but they cannot sell a domain which is owned by another entity. The only way for amiga.com to be sold is that the current owners sell it.
-
Nope, Godaddy is a nasty entity. They have already charged MCBill at least US$9.95 and Amiga.com is in line for deletion. If McBill doesn't pay up they can and do delete the domain. Every cybersquatter will be in on this one. It's a useful Spanish/Portuguese word.
It'll be in GoDaddy Auctions before you know it. When the time comes we should have a contest as to the final winning bid....

A smart move for new owner(s) of amiga.org....
Amiga.com redirects to Amiga.org

So there's still no update on what happened to Amiga Inc.? Yes, it was no more than a shell company with some very dubious financial dealings, but I can't believe there's been no details whatsoever from anyone!

This is not really new news for you but it does remind me of Amiga Inc and what they were looking for.

How many details do you need? The Washington-based Amiga Inc. was officially dissolved in early August 2009, about two months prior to the announcement of the legal "settlement"...
Bill McEwen is currently running a company called Amiga Development, Inc. that was incorporated in March of this year.

Amiga Development India's website is up, absolutely nothing new, but it's up.

Amiga.com is resolving again...
no site but resolving.

I registered www.amigaformat.com (http://www.amigaformat.com) and am currently waiting on permission from future publishing to release downloadable pdf versions of Amiga Format issues.
I think personally Amiga Inc is no more obviously, they never did anything for the Amiga anyway, just left in limbo land.

If that where the case, then they should be reborn by now, you can't stay in limbo forever.
-
Regardless the reason for Amiga.com being. The simple fact does not bode well for anything Amiga related.
-
http://amiga.com/ and http://amigadevindia.com/
both now going to GoDaddy parked pages.
-
Strange. Amiga.com was working a few days ago. It was just a blank page, but it was working.
-
We can only hope that Bill McEwen has finally given up. Its bad enough when the current owner of the Commodore name licenses it out to a furniture dealer to market low power PCs housed in a C64 look alike case, but Amiga Inc actually slowed down or prevented the development of Amiga technology.
Lets hope no one else thinks to resurrect this issue and Hyperion becomes the sole owner of the right to use the Amiga name (not that it matters to me as I'll still be using MorphOS).
-
Both blank pages again

Both Amiga.com and AmigaDevIndia.com resolve to 207.126.57.129. This is an ip in the range that belongs to Xeroscape/Hard Hat Hosting. The same company Amiga Inc has always used for hosting.
It appears that 24 A records actually "reside" on that IP:

Hyperion are another bunch of idiots, they won't even release a Mac-Mini compatible version of OS4 and massively dropped the ball by not getting in on OS4 as the PS3s native 'other OS' instead of that pile of puke Yellow Dog Linux.
I'd rather they all just dropped dead tomorrow, including Cloanto who are holding up the release of KS to freeware status and fleecing innocent idiots into a £30 copy of UAE with crippled files and encrypted roms.
Unless someone with cash AND brains, like say Google or IBM, buys the whole lot lock stock and barrel then please dear god let it all end and allow Amiga to rest in peace.
Enough with crap like x1000 and SAM etc etc.

A few days ago amiga.com was "parked" by GoDaddy, a WHOIS returned no results for the domain, and this from GoDaddy's registry system: "Updated Date: 29-aug-2010."
This leads me to believe that someone allowed the domain to expire and then suddenly renewed it. Maybe due to this thread or similar elsewhere. The current registrant is listed as Vince Pfiefer.

There is nothing suspiscious there. Takes a lot lot longer to change the status of a dot com. The Amiga Com page is empty. The page has been edited I would guess by the owner for what ever reason. If the domain was the property of a domain host and there was no owner then you would be redirected to the domain host website. The domain name is not for sale. There is quite a lengthy process in transferring the rights to the domain. Not sure if thats been happening. Cant see why a new owner would create an empty page with just the html tags on it. All the status lines are in the prohibited state so no transition is in place.

Enough with crap like x1000 and SAM etc etc.
Very well said. The SAM is an overly priced piece of cr*p in my opinion. You pay all that money for a motherboard, then u need to add expensive ram, a case, a graphics card, case etc.. And once you are done, it has no other use than that of OS4.
As for the X1000, i dont see it anywhere, and even so, the keyboard and mouse for example are just simple Logitech with horrible Boing ball logos stuck on.
At least the Mac Mini (2nd hand) looks nice, its fast and its a hell of a lot cheaper than the SAM.
Other good candidates for OS4 are the Wii and the Gamecube which are both powered by PowerPC CPU's which are very similar to the G3 750FX processors used in the iMac and iBook.
