Title: Possible web browser for 68k amigas?
Post by: utri007 on January 20, 2010, 06:47:29 AM
Hi would this make any sense?

http://highwire.atari-users.net/

It is HighWire web browser for atari range computers. It has a css support, it works from 030 cpu to 060. It has support for multiple gui systems etc. and it doesn't require grapihics card.

Could someboy chec the sources, if it would be ease task for somebody to port?

My initial reaction is that this is a great project and would be very interesting as a base for an Amiga browser.

However, I would be surprised if it would be and easy task.

I can't imagine GEM and Amiga's intuition are that similar.  There are probably quite a few libraries that would have to be swapped for Amiga compatible libraries.

Also, he mentions that he uses some assembly.  Not sure how much, but I'm guessing that could be another pain point.

That said, if his HTML parser is a fairly complete separate module, it might not be too difficult to use that as a basis for a fork of the code???

Not port it, but write new based on some of his functions????

Would be an interesting project.
