Does anyone have contact info for the guy who made this? (http://www.commodore-amiga-retro.com/amiga/a_scuzz_oct02/amiga-fantasyb.jpg) I'm trying to get in contact to see if I can get the files for it. The end result may be an amiga fantasy case sitting on your desk in a year or so.:)

please, no..

The contact info in the lower-right of the image isn't enough for you?

It doesn't work.

Where they failed, I shall probably also fail. doesn't Mean I won't try.

It wuld cost $30000 or more to produce just the steel molds required to produce something like this. A run of 10K units would have to make the cost $70-100 for the consumer. Why do you think commodore kept the same case desings for so long?
-
A 10-$20 A1200 yellowed case and a can of Black Plasticote vynil paint and I'm a happy camper. Looks like injection molded black plastic when you're done. Much less headaches.
-
Looks pretty close to how the 1200 *should* have been when it was first released...
-
Great shape and color.

One of the most aptly titled amiga projects ever :-)

Fourth ugliest Amiga case design ever. First was the Walker ("Hey, look, a computerized trash can!"), second was the MCC (a computer so ugly it could only be made out of styrofoam!), and the third was another proposed "amiga Fantasy" case that...just defied description. I can't be bothered to go looking for a link but it was a box about the size of an A2000 desktop case but designed by a sadist. USB ports hidden behind doors, a dished-in top which made it useless for trying to recover some of the desktop space you'd lose using it, and if you somehow managed to overcome that (with a piece of wood or preferably a wooden box to hide its ugliness from the world) you were SOL as the floppy drives were hidden by Sure-to-Break(TM) Designed trapdoors.
Seriously, that last one was like someone went to design school in the negaverse and came to our reality with a head full of bad ideas. It was a computer case from Bizzaro World. It was a case designed by people who hate other people who use computers. It couldn't have been worse if it had had a button on front marked "PRESS HERE TO RAPE CHILDREN" and a pair of rotating buzz-saws spring loaded to take your hands off when you touched the (doubtlessly poison and equally lethally trapped) keyboard and mouse (with optional Papal Blasphemy engravings).
-
Ok so I guess you hate that case design. You know now we have to see a picture of this ugly ass case design.

I allways liked the Amiga Fantasy design, and there was one of the MMC designs that was really nice, the one that doesnt come with the monitor together.
By the way, have you seen the Natami ones? I am not very confortable with them!
Personally speaking, I always enjoyed the look of the A3000 desktop case.
-
Yep, those Natami cases are nasty. They should win hands down in an ugly competition. They need someone with some design experience to design a real case.
I'd like this one:

Another Amiga case, the MCC!

Too retro for me!

@NovaCoder
Yeah, i like retro. But then suggest one :)
-
That mcc case certainly looks the business...
But was it a pre or post-Xbox? design :-)
These days it's pretty easy to get custom cases made up - there are so many place in China who'll bend over backwards for custom. The hard-yards are in the design and CAD phases..
Mike.

The Xbox was released on November 15, 2001 and the Amiga MCC dates back to 1999/2000. So it was first.

It's very difficult to please everyone and usually you'll have mixed reactions.
When I designed the Minimig (Amiga) and the 1541U cases (for the C64)
http://www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
some people didn't like them until they started playing with them and saw the massive amount of work that had gone in creating such things.
Anyway I'll soon be showing my latest design (the case for the SAM/Natami) so keep an eye on this site ;-)
-
The black Minimig limited edition is really beautifull! Congrats on the design!
-
Thanks...I have been working on a silver edition with engraved logo but at the moment the case for the SAM/Natami has taken priority...it can't wait any longer otherwise it'll become vapourware! :-)
