Title: Boot from different harddisk
Post by: djkoelkast on January 16, 2010, 12:00:27 PM
Hi,

I've got an A4000 with a SCSI and IDE harddisk attached.
When I boot from the SCSI there's something wrong, it's painfully slow and so on, when I boot from IDE things are just right.
So I'd like to boot from the IDE drive every time. I already set the boot priority in HDToolBox to 0 for IDE, 1 for SCSI.
The SCSI drive is connected to the CyberSCSI.

The problem is it just boots from DH0 (SCSI) everytime and not from HD0 (IDE).
So I hold left+right mouse, choose HD0 and so it boots fine from HD0.

How can I make it happen so it boots from HD0 all the time, without me having to set it with left+right mouse every time I boot.

hdtoolbox can be used to change boot priorities of each partition on each hard drive

And 1 boots before 0. Floppy is 5.

Set SCSI to 0, IDE to 1 and it works, who would have thought that ;) Thanks!

By the way: are there any silent 50p SCSI harddisks? This one sounds like a plane engine and rattles a lot. I also want to replace the IDE for a more modern, silent version, although I guess I can only use 8GB of the drive and only in 2GB partitions max? (I run OS 3.9 BB2). But then again, who would need more than 10GB on an A4000 anyway.
