Title: Arxon Scandoubler, but no image
Post by: djkoelkast on January 10, 2010, 08:44:00 PM
I've bought this beauty:

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=357

but when installed in my A4000 an hooking it up to my Sony Trinitron multisync monitor: nothing happens when I turn the A4000 on. I thought just installing should be enough?

-- edit: never mind this, I pulled everything out my A4000 and placed it back part for part and it works.
Is a little shaky image though, even after trying the jumpers in different modes.

That one doesn't flicker-fix, are you using an interlaced or non-interlaced mode?

I only use it when the Amiga boots, so I don't really know.
It is called FlickerFixer (on the back of the card itself)...

They've mislabeled the card, then.  It only scandoubles, but non-interlaced modes (such as A4000 bootup menu) should be solid.

I was unhappy with mine and find the C= 2320 works much better (scandoubles and flicker-fixes.)

Hm, it is even version 1.1, so they messed up at least twice.
I do have a FlickerMagic, but that one is without cable and I wasn't able to make one, there is a topic about it which goes back to 2006, and even now it still ain't fixed.

Or do you say: get rid of both and use: http://www.vesalia.de/e_indivisionaga4000d.htm

I'm thinking about it, although it is quite expensive, I might want to use it with a TFT monitor in stead of the Sony Multisync 14" CRT...

The Indivision AGA 4000 is a much better device than any of the old-style ones, though since you have an RTG you won't benefit much from the HighGFX AGA screenmodes.
