I want to convert an mpeg I created to CDXL format.
I have the Iff pics (iff24 320x240) ready and numbered correctly.
The sound (Iff sound) is also ready.
The problem is that i cannot find a program to load
the pics and the sound and multiplex them in
a CDXL file.
I tried every program on aminet. None seems to accept iff files.
Please Help!

There are some CDXL tools on the Amiga DevCD, but these are the original ones that Commodore shipped and I think they are complicated command line jobbies (I haven't tried them).
Maybe there is a reason why CDXL isn't used much, even on the Amiga?

I've found a tutorial here (http://www.amclust.de/workshops/CDXL.html) (English (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.amclust.de/workshops/CDXL.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3DCDXL%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26sa%3DG)) which may help. I strongly recommend the German version if you can read German (the English one doesn't make sense in places due to automatic translation). It seems to cover everything but I only skimmed through.

Chris: Maybe there is a reason why CDXL isn't used much, even on the Amiga?
I suppose ... :-D
The problem is:
I created the "Team Chaos" logo for the game
Total Chaos. Team Chaos likes it, and we thought
to put it on the game as a startup video.
That's why I must convert the file to CDXL!

Hola DaNi!
For converting an .anim to a series of iff files you may use ADPro`s arexx user command BustAnim.adpro .
As for the CDXL anim, I tried the ADPro datatype with this script (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=el&lr=&ie=UTF-8&inlang=el&selm=R89ZwF-.digitaldream%40delphi.com). It`s easy, but doesn`t leave any space for the audio. It also crops the anim.
I tried the command line XLMake alone, and in combination with its GUI (XLTOOLKITGUI), but it crashes (Software failure: suspend/reboot on AMiGA -Alert Code: 80000004-, Guru reset on UAE). After running Enforcer, I found incremental byte-writes on base memory ($00000000). Something is wrong with this little proggie, even if it gives you the power to control the CDXL format.
After reading the DevCD docs and having a long search in the Net, I found out that there is no real documentation on the format, not to speak for tutorials...
Some problems:
The CDXL is not fullscreen (although some claim to have seen CD?? anims in full screen. My "Tower Assault" CD is 1/2-3/4 of the screen video).
It was introduced for the CDTV, so HAM modes are enabled, What about AGA and HAM8 (the DevCD has the same CDXL tools in the CDTV/CD?? drawers, more or less)?
The animation FPS seems to be dependant of the medium speed (data flow) : The Alien Breed intro anim goes as fast as the CDRom drive is (runs smoothly only on my real CD?? x2 CD drive)!

It's such a pity that cdxl's are so difficult to create, I would LOVE to convert some movies from Divx to cdxl format to watch on my Amiga. It would be great to have an open source converter available!
BTW I believe that a freeware audio editor called Wavetracer has some sort of support for cdxl audio tracks.

If I remember correctly, the ECS CDXLs are quarter screen,
while the AGA CDXLs are one third screen.
The Microchrosm(?) Title demo on the CD32 demo-CD #2 can be streached to full-width with some controller-button but, of course, that just makes the picture distorted.*
The CD32 Scientist & Cyborg ad is on that CD, as a MPEG1, and as a AGA CDXL.
Speaking of the Developer CD v1.1 (1996) - there's an ECS CDXL there of a speedboat+waterskier which, IIR, is in 16colours.
(* I could be wrong there - the STREACH may be vertical)
