First, my apologies to staff if this post is in the wrong place or not allowed. Please feel free to move it.
Being a long time Amiga user, owner, supporter, and developer...I decided it was time for Amiga to have a pure Social Site. I know that this site and others like it are more or less a social community. But, I thought we could use something different.
My site Dragon's Moon (http://dragonpalemoon.com) is totally free (Ad Free too). It has similar features to facebook. Members are free to join or create groups, have mini-blogs, and more. I will be adding more features to the site over the next few days.
Try it out, and I'm open to any suggestions on how to make it better.

Why weren't people content with Usenet? Oh yeah, because the next generation of geeks were on mind altering drugs (anti-depressants for starters) and were "diagnosed" with having ADD. That and Google came along and ruined everything. :(
Is your new Amiga social site compatible with legacy Amiga hardware and software? AWeb, Ibrowse, etc? Be very nice if it were since the site looks so neat and clean as it is...

Why weren't people content with Usenet? Oh yeah, because the next generation of geeks were on mind altering drugs (anti-depressants for starters) and were "diagnosed" with having ADD. That and Google came along and ruined everything. :(
Is your new Amiga social site compatible with legacy Amiga hardware and software? AWeb, Ibrowse, etc? Be very nice if it were since the site looks so neat and clean as it is...
Actually I was happy with CNet or Zeus back in the day! I think I still have my Zeus discs somewhere.
Well, to be honest, I'm not sure how it looks on legacy Amiga. Sadly, I no longer have my A3000T. I'm still looking for a new (used) one...hint hint. :) But it does use Javascript / Ajax so I'm not sure how well that works on legacy stuff these days.
I'm trying to port some old legacy stuff over to AROS at the moment, but I would love to have an A3000T again! I was one of the 4 devs on the game Invasion Force (some of you may remember) and did the whole Amiga developer thing with the TAO/Intent stuff (AD-115 was/is me).

Hmmm... not the end of the world obviously, but I just had a conversation with a friend that makes his living programming PHPBB and told him about the server "upgrade" that took place on this site and the negative effects said upgrade had on legacy machines. Well, he swore up and down that there's absolutely no reason why this site couldn't be more Amiga browser friendly - that all that was needed, were cosmetic tweaks to the HTMLx (4 or did he say 7?). Anyway, he agreed 'that' in itself could be somewhat of a project, which is why Wayne didn't bugger to tweak since less than 6% of us actually use A.org on their machines.
I may be in the minority here, but it *would* be nice to have another Amiga social site be fully compatible with our machines. An Amiga site compatible with Amiga's? Guess that's just too much to ask for in the new millennia :( Might start Twittering on my C64 instead, just because... lmao!

It's got all the good chips, 3.1 ROMs, maxed out RAM on the board, CV64, ethernet, and optionally a CSMKII '060 with 128MB of RAM. (SCSI card and all, though I haven't used the CS SCSI in it yet.)

I agree! I actually make a living doing web development (and a little hardware / software stuff here and there.). So, I will look into making it compatible with legacy Amiga. I've been on Linux for the past 3+ years, so give me a bit to get back up to Amiga speed.

If you'd like an example of a social networking website that is very compatible with Amiga browsers, check out http://www.comicspace.com . It uses HTML to lay everything out, and only minimal CSS for a few extra cosmetic enhancements. The reason most modern sites don't work well in IBrowse or AWeb is because they use CSS for everything, and our browsers don't recognise CSS yet.

Sweet! Hard drive? Floppy? Optical drive (CD)? Keyboard / mouse? And just being picky...front face clips intact? (I broke mine in the past). And this is a real A3000T (T as in Tower) and not a regular A3000 thrown in a PC tower case right? ;)

Also if you'd like to check how everything would work on a real Amiga without having to buy a whole machine, you should try one of the pre-installed Workbench/Amiga emulkation packages like AmigaSys, AmiKit or ClassicWB. You'll need Amiga Forever to legally use them unless you can get the ROM images from a real Amiga.

The reason most modern sites don't work well in IBrowse or AWeb is because they use CSS for everything, and our browsers don't recognise CSS yet.

Well, the same could be said about the tons of sites already out there. But, I was just looking for something different. And Microsoft owns part of Facebook so...
I'm not looking to change the world here. I am currently in the USA and most of the Amiga action happens outside of the USA. I just thought I could add something to the USA side of the Amiga house.

It's strange seeing it in beige color (I had painted my old one black).

Well, since you are practically neighbors with MS, I can see why you would make such comments. I am not one to start flame wars. I really don't care what products other people use or support, it's their choice. And I don't expect anyone to care what I use or support...it's my choice.
Having worked for MS in the past, I saw their tactics first hand. So, 3+ years ago I decided to no longer support them. Why is this a problem for so many people? There are other companies with similar tactics and I don't support them either.
And yes, I know MS did Amiga Basic back in the day.

Thanks! I apologize for venting, but just felt the "oh, one of those types" comment was uncalled for.
I plan to start re-coding the site to work on legacy Amiga, something some of the other sites can't currently do. This will take time though. So, that may answer your question as to the need. ;)
