Hi,
Now that OS4 looks more and more real, i`m thinking about buying an AmigaOne.
I`m particulary interested in the 'Lite' version of the board: `cause i don`t want a huge tower that look like a pc, only a nice one, as small, clean and unique as possible.
So here the questions:
_ What are the differences between the regular and the lite version? (except the size of course)
_ When (or where?) could i buy an AOne Lite motherboard?
_ Where could i buy a cool tower (and small!) for this hardware? I want only the minimum with it: gfx card, cd-burner, medium hd...
_ ... And what do you think of my choice? :-?

I'm also interested in the AOne lite
The differences will include less slots etc.
Do a search on the internet - there is some info about the AOne LITE on mini-itx.com IIRC and plenty of info on the AOne dotted about...

Here you can find all the info about the A1Lite (now micro AmigaOne):
http://amigaworld.net/modules/amigaonenews/
It will have less slots, and an integrated ATi graphic chip. At some show an Micro A1 was demostrated run Linux with a G4 1.066Mhz processor. The model should be ready for the beginning of 2004 (personally i think February).
See you.

Well, I love ITX boards (i'm a sucker for gadgets), and what better than one with a PowerPC onboard that will run AmigaOS? Ahhh... lovely... :-D
Its supposed to be out early next year, AFAIK. Check out mini-itx.com for info about cases etc., although there are cheaper places to get ITX cases.
The Lite, being a very small motherboard, has onboard Radeon graphics. The proposed spec for the final model is supposed to include firewire and gigabit ethernet. These are not on the prototype currently being shown.
I guess the best advice is "wait and see". Looks very promising indeed, though!

well i am pretty sure a1lite will be what people wants, it has everyting on board and a pci slot which u can use a raiser on for later.
but most of all it has a gfx chip tied to it, which makes it more like an real amiga, sure it might be a problem later on (upgrading) but i am allready drooling over the possibilities of dooing hw bashing :)
after xmas2003 is when its planned to be buyable for the normal consumer/user (quarter1 2004) and it has a cpuslot which means there will be diffrent cpu ranges, i will go for the cheapst one first and then later upgrade cpu if needed to do so..)

It's a cracking little board, perfect for a PVR project.

Thanks!
It will be hard to wait all these months :-)

I believe it should have been called simply AmigaOne mini and not microA1, because it's a mini-itx board. You will see, people will think it's an Micro-ATX board when they read/hear the name microA1.
:-?

AFAIK it's officially called the AmigaOne Lite. No "micro" in the name...
:-?
-
that_punk_guy: nah it was renamed before the official viewing in australia!.
its officially named A1 Micro..., its kinda weird indeed, i like LITE better or Mini ..
cheers

Funny, we've been hearing that since 02. But besides the OS issue (Linux is good enough), how much are these mini-ITX sized mobos? It's all nice advertising to read these "I want one" but the price is always the big question and I have yet to see a target MSRP yet.
Of course, we could be wow'd by EyeTech to give us a total number of A1 mobo sold so far. But for some reason they don't seem to want to brag about it. One has to wonder, why that is.

dammy:i think u should put down your sword, you are sounding like a troll.
and besides i have an a1XE800 and dont you think i will buy the micro a1 if i want it? , nah because i must know the numbers of units sold before i know if i want it... eh?
anyway i will buy one and i will enjoy it, bash it to hell over time :)
