Title: Good Home Sought: A1200, A600, Peripherals, Games
Post by: Cadmus on December 27, 2009, 09:42:57 PM
Well my parents are finally moving to a smaller residence and while I loved my Amigas dearly I know I must either store them myself (impractical), junk them (barbarous), or sell them (unlikely).

So instead I'm looking to give them away for the cost of shipping (from UK Mainland), it's more important to me they go to someone who will appreciate them than anything else. I'm going to try and get a more accurate manifest as the crates come out from storage but here's what I know is available

A1200:

A600:

Peripherals:

There's also several hundred floppies, mostly games (many of which have manuals, though no boxes). My hope is to digitise them before passing them on. There's little to no pirate in here, that would account for less than 10 disks.

Is anyone interested in any of this? I'm heading away from my parents' next week but they'll be happier keeping it if they know there's a chance of getting rid of it.

P.S. If any of this is super-rare feel free to start a bidding war

P.P.S. First post, be gentle

Very, very tempted in the whole lot - how much for shipping to Fife (Scotland)?

Cheers!

AndyC

PS. Is it first come first served, and if so do I have dibs?

Hi, just curious how much shipping to the US would be and if you would ship. If so interested in the A1200

thanks

Erk! Wasn't expecting such fast replies! What I really need to do now is start weighing some of this so I can calculate shipping to the likely suspects (US, UK... are Germans still big into their Amigas?)

One important thing on all this is a degree of Caveat Emptor, now both the computers booted last time I tired them (though you had to wait for the HD to spin up in the 1200), however the last time I had the time and space to test them was around 2000. I do not know their current state of repair, what I can tell you is since then they have been stored in a bedroom (as opposed to a loft) so with any luck nothing terrible has befallen them.

EDIT: I'm not planning on doing dibs, simply because as it's free I don't want one person hoovering up the lot, so if someone has a burning need for a smaller part of the lot, I'd feel better giving that small piece to them. Guh, too much xmas beer, feel free to fight and argue among yourselves and I'll take a look in the morning (GMT)

I am really really interested in the 1200 - I'm currently Amiga-less and dying to get back into the scene! But if it's going to AndyC/desantii I'd still be interested in the 600!

I'm in UK, Croydon.

Still interested in the 1200, my 1200 died a year ago and missing it sorely. Would only need the 1200 (ideally with the 030), no power supply

thanks

To late for the 1200? Although shipping to NZ would be expensive? :-/

  • Expansion card (68030 + 4MB)
I actually need one of these quite badly, so if nobody else has beat me to it (not likely), please advise.

Right, seeing as all of this is being wanted by people (and there are money offers too) I'm going to transport it to my home (North Yorkshire) at some point before the end of January. There I can test it (need to find a TV), get photos and start dividing it up based on what people want.

Sorry if you were hoping for stuff sooner ;) But I should be in a position to start shipping stuff properly for the end of January.

Cool, was I beat to it on the '030? :)

If it is free, why do you need to test it?

Is the A600 RAM card up for grabs still?

ChaosLord raises a good point.  If it is free, why all the timelines/stipulations/thorough testing?  Just say, "here it is, come get it."  You would have a dozen people at your doorstep ready to pick it up.

One more question: Why offer somthing free, when 100's of people are willing to pay in excess of $100 - $200 for each item?

Don't get me wrong, it is very generous of you but it also raises a lot of question.
