Title: Q: Digital Creations SuperGen RGB pinout
Post by: save2600 on December 23, 2009, 09:20:46 PM
Greetings! Just received one of these and noticed the RGB in to the Amiga looks a little funky. Looks like a professional enough cut, but are pins 12 & 23 supposed not to be connected to the Amiga? I thought pin #23 supplied +5v, but guess it's not necessary for this unit?

Looks weird, doesn't it? I have one of these, too, but I've never plugged it in. As I recall, it's actually a 25pin connector with the extra pins sliced off. So all 23 should be there.

Right as rain you are Matt_H! LOL! I just counted 'em and yeah, all 23 are there. Seller assured me he used it that way for years - just wanted to be sure before plugging it in!

Digital Creations obviously ran out of 23 pin connectors somewhere along the line :)

I thought it was a clumsy hack done by a previous owner - until I saw photos of other units that were exactly the same :)

That's a stock plug onthe Super-Gen guys....I've long forgotten why so I won't add to any folklore.  The cable is fine....it was a hack to overcome an issue but done by an engineer.

Those were the days when you figured a quick way around the problem and shipped!
