Sorry if this has been rehashed. Has anyone soldered 16 bit isa connectors to those spots on the 2000 motherboard? How hard was it? Did it work?

a normal 2000 should have the ISA slots populated.
will they work ? not unless you have a bridgeboard. The ISA bus is not connected to Amiga chipset in anyway.

Note the missing 16-bit extensions on the two slots on the left. I'm talking about soldering those in.
... and yes, I mean to use them with a bridge board.

Though in my case I missed one solder joint on one of the slots so it didn't work properly most of the time till I looked more closely and saw why. When you're dealing with that many pins you have to look carefully!
It's a simple job, but you need to be patient. Best bet is to remove the ISA slots completely from your 2000, and put in some complete 16-bit ISA slots from any old 286/386/486 motherboard.

When removing old ISA slots I had best bet in cutting them out with a dremel and then cut out small quarters of PCB around the soldered pins, then solder the pins and remove each square one by one. Thats how I made my A500 zorro slot.

Another way to go - if you don't care about the old PC mobo you're salvaging from - is to use a propane torch or a paint stripping heat gun. Do this outside! but clamp the mobo into a vice, put a dead ISA card in the slot, heat the mobo from the solder side. When it's ready, yank the connector out with a pair of vice grips. The dead ISA card -or better yet, just the edge connector from one- keeps the plastic from deforming under the pressure.
Then you can saw the connector apart and get the 16-bit extension part. Personally, I wouldn't remove the Amiga's whole ISA connector. Why invite trouble... Some of the 2000's I've seen had filled holes for the ISA extension. You'll need solder wick or a vacuum bulb for those.
