Hello!
It all started on one Sunday afternoon. As people may know that Sundays are boring, what with all the crap tv programmes on and that (namely repeats of crap). Well anyway i won't go into that. Anyway, i was planning on playing football later on in the afternoon with a few mates (after Liverpool and Man U match!), or so i thought, then disaster struck! The weather started pissing down and it looked like a river had just burst its banks! I thought to myself "typical ####ing British weather!", but actually i was wrong on this one, we have had a pretty good summer overall.
Then things wen't from bad to worse. I realised I WAS TRAPPED! "I couldn't play football in this monsoon!" i thought. "I don't even have any flippers!". So, unfortunately, we all had to call off the football match we were going to have. But that left me in a really bad position, i was stranded in my own house! My Amiga was down, well hard drive wise, and was about to watch yet another poor episode of Eastenders when i found an old Sensible World Of Soccer game in a drawer.
With nothing to lose, i decided to boot up this once great game that i had foolishly forgotten about. After a few games at the masterpice game, i was hopelessly addicted to it. "Surely this is the greatest footie game of all time!" i cried.
Although the gameplay was untouchable, the game stats are a little bit out of date. So i decided to try out an old SWOS update on an old Amiga Action disk. I fired this up (after setting up the disk 2 update) and was impressed with the player updates (a year later!) but, unfortunately, they had tampered with the game setup completely, which i detest and immediatly went back to the old one.
I still had fun out of the great game, but were still thinking about "are there any updates by other users that can bring this game forward to this season? That would be chuffing great!"
And that is the end of my marvellous story that happened to me on Sunday afternoon.

Try
here (http://www.viewtronix.uklinux.net/update.htm)
I've used these updates on both A1200 and A4000 HD installed SWOS.
i think you might struggle to fit the unpacked team updates on al floppy disk tho

SWOS for MOS? :-D
-
Thanks for that. Will it work on Amiga though!? Also, is it possible to add commentary from a SWOS CD from the PC version. I wan't to hear Jonathon Pearce's speaking, screamy commentating.
Thanks again.
-edit-
Oh sorry, i just noticed you confirming it working on your Amigas!

I make sure I've got a number of 'classic' Amiga's for playing SWOS. So far 2 x A1200's, a CD32 and a A4k that can all be plugged into a tv.
Just wish I had more Zipsticks. Surely somebody could put Zipsticks back into production ? PLEASE :-)

swos commentary wasnt that good, but with the updates wouldnt it go all freaky... calling out the wrong names.
swos updated on my pc crashes at the end of the season everytime. this a problem on the amiga version?
i sat and updated the whole of the cypriot league one day. i tried to mod it so that cyprus has more than one league so u can do promotions and relagations. and two cups. wouldnt have any of that though :-(
what was the other sensi clone? football glory? banana kicks and other fancy stuff?
there should be a new SWOS with more moves, bannanakicks, fancy sidesteps and tricks. come on and make the game 68020 or 68030 minimum at least and minimum AGA. That way work on better graphics so that when they do fancy moves u can see it. However not graphics like the new sensi that came out on the PC, there was none of the sensi spirit and character to that game at all.
and a built in editor to change players names and teams details. :-) more leagues around the world also ooooooooh that would be sweeet. multiplayer over the net... tehehehe
SWOS is so old they must be open to releasing the game for another company to develop it.
Sensible World of Soccer - the next generation
to boldly go where no joystick has gone before (since the last version)

SWOS a classic! Simply addictiveness in its purest form, have you tried Football Glory. It can be almost just as good, or better in some ways!
Cheers,
Povl
p.s. nice to see you now finally have 256MB, sorry for the delay!

SWOS & Kick Off 2, simply the 2 best footy games in history :-)
btw mantisspider, i kinda miss ur avatar :-)
-
lol if only women would say that... cheers restore2003 :-)
i could never get to grips with kick off 2 when i started playing sensi, it was like i left a world i was never to go back to. Kick Off 2 had its best rival in the Addidas Championship FootBall game on the spectrum. Adidas was better than kick off but if i found a version of it on the amiga i would say that it would probably be better than kick off 2. :-D but i havnt played it on the amiga so i cant say that tehehehe
football glory ruled! loved them bannana kicks... just not as much management as SWOS. SWOS 2004 would rock!
-
Yeap, the best game ever and kick off too but I can't play it on my A1200PPC medi it's very slow although I boot up with no blizz support and relockick :-?
Even WHDLoad is slow...
:-x
But on my A500 is really GREAT :-D
-
SWOS is so fantastic! Used to play it all the time on my A1200, but I really must start getting into it again. So addictive! :-D

Hi,
does anyone know if SWOS came out on CD on the amiga, I have seen other versions of Sensi on CD but not sure if this is the latest SWOS.
I got SWOS on the PC, came on a dual CD case but only had 1 CD and no manual in the 2nd half I still have no idea why it came in a dual CD case. how bizzare.
edit:
i just saw on ebay swos for sale (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057551106&category=11052) it has two cd's one of them is Blue. Blue? with Grip written it. anyone know what this cd was? a demo?
-
i cant believe liverpool out played man Utd. well apart from the fact their attempts dont get near the goal
-
WOW! :-o Never knew that there were still so much support for SWOS, how wrong i was! :-) I always thought Jonathon Pearce was a pretty good comentator, with his over the top squeaky voice and everything.
@haymiggan
Yeah. Them simms are working A OK. Thanks.

Yep, this happens on the Amiga version too, and IIRC is caused by updating the various team files but not POOLPLAYER.DAT. Using one of the menu options in SWOSEd should fix it.

IIRC? whats that?
