Title: 23pin -> 23pin Amiga video extension cable?
Post by: koshman on November 30, 2009, 10:48:28 PM
Is it possible to buy an extension for Amiga video signal - 23pin RGB F to 23pin M ? I have my A4000D situated close to wall and things such as A520 or RGB->SVHS converter stick out too much, that's why I want the cable to arrange the peripherals better and make more free room on my table.
Thanks for suggestions.

Failing that, I wonder if you could use 2 Amiga<>VGA adapters and a VGA extension along with your original Amiga monitor cable?

Might be just as easy building your own 23 pin cable though...

Butcher a 25 pin cable.

You'll need one that has all 25 pins connected.  They do exist - I have one!

Ah, so a cable like that doesn't exist :-( yet...

@ Tension: thanks for your suggestion, but I don't really get it. How would 25pin cable help me to put together a 23pin one?

@ save2600: well, that could work, but it would probably degrade the signal a bit. Plus, are there even any Amiga RGB -> VGA cables that have MALE on the Amiga side?

Thank you.

Ask Ian Stedman on the English Amiga Board, I am sure he can make you one as he is making Amiga RGB to Scart cables.

You'd need to break 2 pins off on one side of the connector.  You'd also need to modify the female end of the cable so it would fit.

Hi all!

I have a problem similar to Koshman's but I am wondering if I really do need to connect all the pins to make the extension or if only some of the pins are needed to plug the Amiga to an external scan doubler, which is then connected to a VGA monitor?

Thanks!
Yann

@Magnetic

Lucky you :) Would you be able to tell me if all the 23 pins are connected from one end to the other?

Thanks!
Yann

Not all of them will be.  Search here for some threads on 23 pin RGB pinouts.  Shouldn't  be too difficult.

@Magnetic

Maybe with a multimeter :)?

@TheBilgeRat

Thanks! I will look for this thread on the 23 pin to RGB but are the RGB pins enough for a flicker fixer? I mean, I have no idea of a flicker fixer works really, so any chance that it uses anything besides R, G, B, VSYNC, HSYNC, and GND?
(See http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=56712 ;))

Take care!
