Title: X-Surf 3 + EasyNET Woes!
Post by: Everblue on November 28, 2009, 02:06:38 PM
I just installed my new X-surf. It came with 2 CDs, one contains the X-Surf drivers and the other one EasyNET from AmigaKit.

If I try to install X-Surf drivers first, it says that it needs a TCPIP stack installed (EasyNET), and if I try to install EasyNET first, it tells me to make sure that the drivers for the network card are already installed!!!

Arghhh :) help!

OK goto EasyNet Interfaces section and select the X-Surf.device and save that Interface.    Go back into the EasyNet Interfaces section and select Settings and select the speed that the X-Surf will work at.

I keep getting this:

AmiTCP version 3 or later must be started first - repeatedly.

Can't you just locate xsurf.device on the xsurf install disk and copy that to devs: ?

Edit: Xsurf.device has to be in Devs:Networks.

@Amigakit

I did this:

1. Freshly install Amiga OS3.9
2. Copy x-surf.device to Devs/Networks
3. Install and setup EasyNet

Whey I click connect I get this:

AmiTCP version 3 or later must be started first for a couple of times.

Yes I have selected X-Surf as my device and selected 20 mbit full Dublex.

Help :(

Have you checked this thread : http://eabmobile.abime.net/showthread.php?p=556557

In that thread the problem were corrupted protection bits of files?

In EasyNet Network Config ensure you set your Network Domain Name - see example here:

It seems that the network socket in my amiga room has gone bad :(

I used it last week and it was pefect argh... I have to test the amiga elsewhere, I guess.

Make sure the device name for x-surf.device is all lower case in the networking software. If you don't it will not work.

Ok, the problem wasn't the cable. I have now installed Genesis stack from OS3.9 and worked great. On the other hand I never managed to get EasyNet working, but I do remember leaving DOMAIN NAME option blank. Maybe thats why. Will try it tomorrow.
