Title: Possible to easily mount ADF's as virtual floppy ?
Post by: dougal on November 26, 2009, 11:44:57 AM
I would like to mount ADF's as virtual drives. I have heard that this can be done but the software looked complicated.

Is there an easy way to do this, like a program which has an installer and a gui?

Basicly i want to mount ADF's so that i can mount some coverdisks which i have as ADF's besides some other stuff without having to re-write them to floppy.

Also, this is probably asking much, but i suppose there is no way of mounting an ADF as a virtual DFO which stays in ram, even after a reset for games which use the trackloader. (Most games).

If your setup is not OS3.5 or OS3.9 based, you can try this:
http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/diskimage

Otherwise, this one might hit the spot:
http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/diskimage_device-os3

In either way, you'll end up with i.e DF4 or DF5, whatever you want.
From personal experience, I used the older package. It uses mountlist for device definition; ADF loading/unloading is issued from CLI, but if you havie MUI installed, there's a nice utility with decent interface.

For the second part of post, IMHO that wont work since only recoverable RAM disks are reset-survivable (although under some circumstances, trackloaders might pose as problem here)

I'm using OS3.9 .... I'll take a look at these utilities. Yeah i didnt think trackloader stuff would work especialy after a reset, bt was worth a shot asking anyway :P

Maybe somebody can help me with my problem on DiskImage.

Everytime i insert an ADF or even the sample blank disks using Diskimage i get a drive icon popping up which says DI0:Uninitialized

I have tried it with all the available units(Di1 etc...) but same result. For Some reason when i attempt a format it reads the virtual disk as 95MB.

I copied the nesssary Libs, Dos Drivers and device but still same problem.

Any ideas ?
