Title: A1200 floppy drive problem
Post by: dangermouse on November 18, 2009, 08:41:53 AM
Hi

My A1200 is having a strange floppy 'recognition' problem.

If I boot the machine without a floppy in her (or HDD) it shows the Kickstart screen (fine). However, the floppy drive is not 'clicking' in an attempt to find a disk. If I insert a disk nothing happens.

If I boot the 1200 with a bootable floppy already in the drive the machine boots fine (in this case WB 3.0 Install Disk). When I got that far (WB Install Disk successfully booted into WB) I removed the Install floppy but WB did not recognise that the floppy had been removed (or changed for that matter).

Is there a jumper or setting somewhere that controls this behaviour or does she have a fault? I can't for the life of me remember if the floppy 'seek' feature can be turned on/off.

Any help appreciated

DM

Don't work in the dark :) I'd misaligned the connector on the motherboard. Amazingly the floppy worked but the 'polling' stopped..go figure.

That is a problem i found also when modifying PC drives to work as Amiga ones. It would do that for me if not properly or fully modded.
