Title: Swapping EC030 processor with a 030 processor
Post by: sim085 on November 16, 2009, 07:22:43 AM
Hi is this possible?

If I have a card with a EC030 processor then can I then later on change this to a full 030 processor?

Regards,

If it's a PGA type: yes.

Thanks :) I'll keep that in mind when bidding for an accelerator card then. Seems that all the best know accelerator cards have a PGA processor so it should not be a problem.

I only know of the A3630 with a QFP '030 but there may be others. (Of course QFPs can be changed as well, but it'd be a pain to un- and resolder plus making it difficult to find a replacement.) You'll probably want to make sure the '030 is socketed, too...
