Hi,
I've been dying to get Speedball2 up and running on my Amiga 4000... Using the WHDload configs from whdownload.com it starts OK, plays the intro but when it should display "Loading Game" it crashes while printing those letters.
Anybody have an idea/tip on how to get the game running?
Config:
A4000, stock A3640 (25MHz 68040)
2 chip / 16 fast
PicassoIV (used as scandoubler for the ECS / AGA resolutions)
-
Maybe try disable the fast mem ?

Tried it all, but won't run. On the A4000/040 I've booted with Caches Off / Original Chipset - either WHDload or original floppy. No success...
I've also tried on a stock A3000, 25MHz '030 with ECS... although it gets further along loading the game it hangs when it needs to start playing a game (hangs at "Demo Game" or Single Player Knockout after upgrading your team skills). Haven't tried this machine with WHDload yet, I need to reinstall it.
There must be someone who solved this ;-) AFAIK it's a hugely popular game!

It may be the OS killing it. I can't find my copy at all, but if I remember right, it didn't like 3.1 at all.
-
It does seem that way indeed. As I have an image of my old 2.04 ROMs, is there a way to load those using some creapy tool?

Search softkick files here in the forums. It should lead you to a solution

OK, I managed to get it going - finally!
First off, the machine is running ClassicWB on a CF2IDE adapter. With this comes iGame by default. I added the Speedball2_V1 archive from whdownload.com, then after adding the game into iGame, selected the game and selected "Game Properties". Then above the tooltypes style list that says "*** DONT EDIT etc", added a line that says "NOCACHE".
Voila ;-)
Now, if anybody know how I can save my games that would be great. When playing Leage it sometimes shows "SAV" but not always...

Have a formatted blank disk. When you get the sav option click on it and it will ask you to insert blank disk.
You get the save option every two games I think.

To answer my own question... you can save every 3 games...

Ha, losers, every serious SBII player knows that you have to finish the league (both) in one go, otherwise it's no fun :D
Btw, the CD32 version runs on A4000 out of the box albeit without music (or sfx, I can't remember which) :(
