Hello
On Foxnews there is a news about offer for a
free Superbowl advertisement space sweepstake.
Is it possible for Hyperion/Eyetech to use this
opportunity for launching AmigaOS 4?
I read that Superbowl is one of the highest
rating Sports event in USA.
The next Superbowl (#38) will be held in Houston,
February 2004.

As long as it isnt during halftime. The girls in
bikinis playing football on pay-per-view would be
more interesting.
Although- the superbowl commercials are almost
as big an attraction as the game and are a
competition to see who is the funniest. Whatever
their faults, any commercial involving AInc would be
pretty damn funny. Now if on pay-per-view we could
get those girls playing football wearing nothing but
our amiga club t-shirts... Now THAT I would watch.

Free!? How!? Well this is American TV with enough adverts to spoil any program or event. :-D

Hey Hyperion, Eyetech and Amiga Inc! Why don't you take part in the UK's lottery, you could win a few million pounds! It's only 14 million to 1 odds!
-
Or try to find a gold pot near a rainbow :-)

Yea, that'll happen.

???
And what should that bring???
Who is interested in Superbowl?
Only Americans (USA).
Though not all of the population.
And of these Suberbowl fans who is using Amigas?
1 percent or 1 promille or less?
And of these who does have an A1 3 to 5 people?
So AOS 4 wouldn't reach the tight people. And the rest does use windows. Even Apple doesn't advertise in the Superbowl.
On the other hand how should Amiga Inc/Eyetech/Hyperion pay the ads? Ads like this costs 100s of million of dollars.
And as for us Europeans nobody looks the Superbowl except for some 100 fans.
So it wouldn't bring absolutaly nothing.
bye Manou

Well, the point of advertising is to target people who haven't already bought your product! ;-)
That said, this sounds rather dumb...

Yes I know. But I don't think a lot of people will switch to the Amiga from other systems.
The only people who buy A1 are Amiga fans.
The Amiga / Pegasos are niche market products, so it's not for the mass market which the Superbowl clearly targets.
Compared to the price the ad would cost, the few more A1 sold, wouldn't be of much benefits for Amiga Inc. :-)

Actually, Apple's most successful ad was the Orwellian one they ran during the superbowl in 1983.
You must have seen it, it is regarded as the most successful TV ad in history. The amount of "free" airtime they got afterwards from TV stations showing their ad as a news and interest item is/was amazing.
