Hello, I am trying to install a CF card as my primary IDE harddrive. The instructions I got with the interface don't make much sense. Is there a thread here that can help me. My interface has 3 pins on one side, I tried all the way left and all the way right, neither was recognized by my system, I need some help.
Thanks

Its a standard IDE to CF PCB?
Does your 1200 already have a 44 - 40 pin HD cable in it?

Thanks for asking, I am afraid I don't know what you mean. I am attaching the CF connector straight on the internal IDE connector in my A1200.

Okay, the IDE connector on the A1200 is 44 pins, the connector on the CF cradle has 44 holes. It is making contact, I start the A1200 the HD light comes on and nothing else happens, no matter what pin setting I use on the CF cradle. Nothing boots no other drive is recognized.

If you've connected the CF adaptor to the IDE in the 1200, just format it like you would a normal hardrive.

I think I explained that it hangs. And no other drives are active when I turn on my machine.
Why would I be here in the forum if all I had to do was just install it like a normal HD.

You will need to boot up with a Workbench floppy disk before you can try to prepare and format your CF card. Being unregonised/unformatted, it might cause the A1200 to wait for 20 seconds first, before resuming booting from the floppy drive. Hopefully this is what happens, and it should continue to Workbench. You then need to use HDToolBox to prepare the CF card to be formatted and used as an Amiga hard drive. Once that's done, then you can finally format the drive. You really would be best to read through the whole thread on EAB, as those guys have been into this stuff for years.

What switches are on the adapter? On mine, not only did I have to force the device to master, I also had to change a voltage regulator setting.
