Title: Fs: A4000 ec/030
Post by: xeron on October 24, 2009, 12:32:49 AM
Well, after selling my CyberstormPPC, i'm splitting up and selling off all my other A4000 bits. Most of it will end up on eBay. Before I do that, though, i'm offering the A4000 itself for collection from the south west of england (Weston-Super-Mare), because i really don't want to have to post it (its old, it might not like being posted).

If anyone is interested, make me an offer via PM or E-Mail (pete _at_ petergordon _dot_ org _dot_ uk).

Details:

* Commodore Amiga 4000 EC/030 in original case
* Case is quite yellowed i'm afraid
* Keyboard is quite yellowed and missing the * key from the number pad
* 2Mb Chip RAM / No fast RAM (i lost the Fast RAM SIMMs)
* Kickstart 3.1
* 170Mb HD, Plain WB3.1 install, no extra software
* No paula audio (needs new capacitors)
* No battery (it went fuzzy, I removed it before any damage to the motherboard was done)

Otherwise, it works perfectly. If you're looking to upgrade it, it worked perfectly with a CSPPC, Mediator 4000, FastATA 4000, Algor, Repulse, the works.

I'll post pics this weekend.

Would you be willing to ship it to the Netherlands? Quite a drive to pick it up :) Seal it up with bubbly plastic and into a solid carton box should do it...

@Xeron

Probably not the place to ask, but since you had a repulse and CPPC and were an OS4 dev, do you know if there are any plans to solve the Repulse's driver issue ? IIRC it hanged the system completely.

@scrappysph
PM me an offer. I have no idea what an A4000 is worth in 2009.

@mousehouse
If nobody makes an offer, it'll end up on eBay and I may have to post it. I was trying to save the effort of posting something so old and delicate.

@Jose
The repulse drivers do hang OS4 completely. I had that problem too :-) It is purely a driver issue, and one that could be fixed. I was going to look into it, but my finances are in such terrible shape that I had to sell the CSPPC before I could do it. I don't think anyone else is trying to fix this problem now.

@Xeron

Are there any doc on the card ? Are the drivers open source ? If not then that's really bad news for one of the best Classic sound cards...

Where do I get a Repulse from and how can I find the driver source? I feel like getting my hands dirty. :)

@spirantho
If you successfully write an OS4 driver with it, you can have mine for postage costs. Note, though, that the only "documentation" i managed to find was a linux driver. I was trying to use Davy Wentzlers AC'97 driver framework and shoehorn the Repulse stuff into it. I didn't get far, but then my heart was only half in it...

I suppose the original company, "AlienDesign", is gone and unreachable ?
