Dear all:
Recently I've purchased a DX9 HD DELL floppy drive from ebay. Please see the bid:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150375277206&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1182
Now I'm trying to connect it to my amiga 1200, but the cable connections are different.
Anyone knows where I can find the proper cable or there is some known mod needed?
Thanks!
Regards!

Anyone knows if this cable could do it?

I can't imagine that drive would ever work on your 1200.
Plugging it in could possibly end the world, even.

Please look at this link:

And I've heard a couple of amiga users that they have one connected.

How about that.

PC drives don't normally work on Amiga's without some sort of modification. Have a look here http://amibay.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2683 and also have alook through the forums on A.org.
For an external drive look for an amiga specific drive that connects via the external floppy port. Like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Commodore-Amiga-External-Floppy-Drive_W0QQitemZ300358596087QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_VintageComputing_RL?hash=item45eec475f7

That is a old review about using those drive with an amiga. It doesnt mention anything about the cable.

These diskdrives has been modified to work on an Amiga. You need an Amigs specific cable for it. If you want a HD diskdrive you could better find a KCS HD Dual drive or a Power Computing XL HD Diskdrive. The Dell diskdrives aren't very good, because cables has problems over time.
The DELL diskdrives has sometimes problems with reading or copying a disk. Even when you swap disk with another Dell diskdrive.

Do you some reference where I can find the mod required?
Moreover, do you know where I can find the required cable?
Thanks

If it is of any help, I VAGUELY remember a mention of an Amiga compatible Dell floppy disk drive in an issue of the Australian Commodore and Amiga Review magazine (ACAR). Maybe if the article can be found it might lead some light as to how it is connected?

Here you will find a picture:

amiga 1260, insteresting ... is it your setup ? do you have a pinout of the cable ?
-
The cable used in those picture is not the same as the cable that comes with the floppy disk drive. Maybe it is a easy mod?
I've found more info:

of course it is not. Amiga floppy drive is a 23 pin socket. There's no other system in the market that uses that kind of socket. The dell floppy most probably comes with a cable to connect to dell laptops, which is probably non-standard dell socket. You may have a hard time figuring it out. Search for 'dell floppy cable pin out'. Amiga 23 pin floppy socket pinout can be easily found.
