Title: Amiga 600 Compatability
Post by: morcar on October 23, 2009, 10:23:39 AM
I know there were some games that you couldnt run on the A600 like speedball 2 and such but was there a way to make them run without using the hard drive install program ?

Also is there a full list of what games dont run on the A600 too ?

Get a romo switcher ? or run a degrader.  There is very little HW difference between a 600 and a 500 apart from the rom

Can a 600 run on 1.3?

I think i had one relokick version that works on my A600, i will see if i can find it after work. Just one question, how much ram you have on your A600? It's possible than plain A600 without mem expansion don't work with relokick.

A 1.3 ROM will help with some games. But those that are keyboard dependent may prove troublesome.

A few that will boot and run (sort of) are; No Second Prize, Hunter and F19 Stealth Fighter. First Samurai and SWIV won't run at all. Generally speaking, if it doesn't run on an A500+ it won't run on an A600.

I've never tried WHDL, so I can't comment on whether any of the above will work. I remember using a degrader some 15 years ago for running games on my A500+ and A1200, but the results weren't very good.

If you can, get hold of a bog standard A500 with 1/2 Mb upgrade as that'll run a good 90%+ of non-AGA games.

Yes, 1.3 works. 1.2 doesn't.

Your best option is a ROM SWITCHER and an A500's 1.3 rom .

Both are cheap and very easy to find on auction sites .

I must say that back in the day i used to use Relokick 1.3 on my stock 1mb A500+ (Kickstart 2.04) with no problems whatsover .

I was about to say m8 i just got relokick 1.4a and it ran Speedball 2 and SWIV with no problems so i might be happy doing it that way

Yeah ... Like i said , on my stock A500+ i never had a single problem using Kick1.3  and the A600 is basicly an A500+
