Title: If Commodore UK had taken over...
Post by: Tension on October 09, 2009, 11:30:08 PM
Would things have been different?  They were close to a buyout, but conceeded when they realised Escom were going to outbid them.

Amiga was only ever going to be just another product from Escom at best.  At least with Commodore UK, it would have been a 100% Amiga devoted business.

Didn't Commodore UK somehow manage to release the FMV cartridge by themselves when Commodore International was already tits-up?  Thats devotion.

:(

No, nothing could have changed the ultimate outcome.  There was no winning strategy.

IMO the UK-C= offer was just as much hot-air as Amino 5 years later.

So no, we might have not seen the A4000T except for the few units build by C=, we might not have gone PPC and be in a situation similar to AtariST now.

Wether that would have been better or worse......

No, I don't think so. The Amiga was allready surpased in earlier years by more capable game consoles (games made the Amiga) and better PC hardware. It would have cost millions just to catch up with the competition.
