Hi,
You provide me a Tracking number on september 20.
But up to now the site say:
Label/Receipt Number: CQ66 7783 558U S
Class: Priority Mail International Parcels
Service(s): International Parcels
Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received
The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on September 20, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.
This means that the post office never received the pack from you. This means more than 15 days to ship a packet!!!!
Did you stole my money??
Please answer asap!!!
USPS Priority Mail is quoted as 6-10 business days, today is day 11 and I get this PayPal claim filed against me without customer contacting me first.
All of a sudden I am getting a landslide of scammers and just plain a-holes. The worst offenders are in Italy and Spain, but France is making a push lately.. Sigh.. Looks like I am going to start declining international sales this late in the game.
It is certainly time to quit!!! :furious:
-
Yeah, some people seems not to be able to talk first before they start this journey on ebay. Sad but true.
-
Lame.
-
People need to realize that tracking is not reliable on international shipments. I don't ship international because customs has destroyed two of my shipments! I had a guys send me a picture of my package when it arrived and it wasn't even in the original box I sent? WTF?
I think my name must be flagged on some kinda watch list or something? :)
-
I've posted my recent disdain for ebay and my more frequent use of craigslist and forums here before. One of the best things about using these other methods is I get to pick the buyer. I'm not stuck with some anonymous high bidder who may stick it to me in the end. That was happening more frequently as ebay seems to be turning in to a den of theives.
Any way, now if it's a stupid email... delete, really stupid questions (not just newbie questions)... delete, low-ball offer ... delete, poor grammer... delete, try to change the terms midway through the deal.... delete and ignore, take too much time responding.... delete, offer to barter with tie-dyed bever pelts.... delete.
Sure that may annoy some people. But from my point of view these "deleted ones" are just getting in the way of an otherwise happy transaction between a bargain seller and a pleased buyer. In the end it may take a bit longer to sell something, but I make near the same money for far less agravation.

I had this happen with a guy I sold a PS3 to. I got an email saying he didn't receive the video and power cables so after looking all over my house on the off chance I forgot to pack them, I finally had the guy email me a pic of the package. Sure enough, customs repacked it in a different box and forgot/stole/didn't notice the cables when they repacked it.
*On an unrelated ebay note, I really wish more people used ebid.com. No seller fees and not being forced to use paypal are really nice....
-
Ebay sucks big time, it's full of scammers and cheats. It's time to pull the plug on it.
Yeah, some people seems not to be able to talk first before they start this journey on ebay. Sad but true.

That's pretty pathetic. I've had packages take longer than they should have, tracking data that didn't update until after I had received the package and, on one occasion, tracking data that was totally wrong (USPS gave sparkfun.com a set of bad tracking numbers, mine said that it had been delivered to Switzerland). So far, sending an email to the sender has always sorted things out.
I hope that you manage to settle the PayPal dispute in your favour.

Buttholes my butt!
What you do is you print those labels at home. That tracking indicates nothing other than you having booked a tracking number at home, that says nothing about whether it has actually been delivered any place by you.
I bought a daughterboard from you, redrumscammer, that I never received.
Unfortunately for me I waited too long to file a claim.
You provided a tracking number just like this. One of these "has notified us to expect" and all that crap.
Yet the tracking NEVER changed. NEver updated.
Plain and simple YOU DID NOT DELIVER IT TO THE SHIPPER, YOU JUST PRINTED THE LABEL, AND THEN DID NOTHING. I assume you kept the parcel for yourself.
I did leave negative feedback for you, you dirty scammer, to which you responded by again quoting this "dead end" tracking number.
So just to recap:
USPS LETS YOU BOOK LABELS AT HOME
TRACKING IS NOT UPDATED UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY SHIP THE PARCEL
REDRUMLOA WAS NOT FORTHCOMING WITH ANY HELP
I CAN ONLY ASSUME HE NEVER SHIPPED ANYTHING.
If any international is a butthole, then surely it is REDRUMLOA, reputed scammer and ripoff artist.

And then they wonder why people like Red are giving up selling ...
Well done @ Ideal ... I bet that makes you feel very proud and special now huh?
Personally, I hope it's another 9 months before you post again ... better still, lets hope your ass gets booted out, locked and banned so my eyes don't have to read crap from you ever again.

I just took a quick look at ReDrum's feedback and for his last 500 sales he had no negative feedback and no neutral feedback. Everything was positive. Yeah IDEAL, Red looks like a real scam artist!
-
this is why I quit selling on Ebay, even though I have lots of stuff I could sell. I guess one day I will try to make it to an amiga show or donate it to some amiga club.
-
In November 2008 I bought daughterboards for 3000 and 4000 from redrumloa on ebay.
These have as of today's date never arrived.
Draw your own conclusions.

FWIW asshat Ideal ...
I looked up the tracking number given in Red's feedback and your claim that it is bogus doesn't quite add up

It clearly shows it left the USA and was received by customs at the other end. Not Red's problem, take the matter up with your local custom's office

You have no place to call Red a scammer. just because one transaction doesn't work does not mean you have to go and slander this guy. I have heard nothing but good things about Red so you and red should work it out your issues rather than you Ideal go whining like a little kid who hurt himself.

So you purchased an item in 2008 and never received it. Now you purchase another, sounds rather foolish if it actually happened. I have received stuff from Redrumloa very quickly. Emails answered promptly as well.

Be that as it may, surely this is a matter between yourself and the buyer from ebay. I`m sure you didn't stroke him, I`m just not sure why you posted this here...
There will always be arseholes on ebay. I bought 2 MIDI interfaces in a row that were broken, off different sellers, and got no return. Tough cheese.
But this isn't the place for bitching.

No, it isn't a place for "bitching", but it is a place to remind others of con-artists like Ideal who are here to extort money from people like Red by receiving goods and then claiming they didn't and hoping they can get a refund in exchange for not posting negative feedback.
I've purchased many items from Redrumloa over several yaers and I've NEVER had a problem. NEVER.
Even if Ideal isn't a con artist, it's been pointed out that the tracking number is genuine and he should be taking it up with his country's customs service.

I couldn't give a shit how much business you've done with Red. Read my original post. I'm sure Red didn't stroke he guy, I just don't think people should be dealing with customers like this through Amiga.org
Shall we all start washing our dirty laundry in public Darrin?

Sure, why not. It'll very quickly sort the liars from honest folk out.
This forum is the Amiga Marketplace (look at the top of the page), I can think of no better place on AO to discuss the purchase and or sale of Amiga merchandise then here. Given that these sorts of issues are common (and often quickly resolved), just why shouldn't they be brought out if the buyer/seller feels the need?

Well we'll have to agree to disagree. We've lost a good retro-seller because of this and I like to know why.
I know that as an eBay user I wont be selling on one person who posted in this thread.
-
Whoa!
I have had NO problems with redrumloa, and my purchases total several hundred dollars-daughtercard,Indivision,idefix,603,and I don't remember exactly what else in past years.
Although I think red is pulling our leg with the $4500 C128 tower even though its chock full of goodies !
-
There are several, i wouldn't say buttholes, but lazy, sellers too, i don't know why it is so difficult for sending at least a message, when the item has been shipped? Most of us buyers do know it could take even weeks to get it, but still would be nice to get some info about the shipment :) With red i have had never any complains, i've paid ultrafast and got my goods ultrafast :D Goes with some other pro sellers at ebay too. I do understand those who have given up selling internationally (Usually just those guys have the stuff i want :( )
Have had luck with my shoppings, so far only one "scam", i didn't get the actual item(game), but older version of it. And the seller is no longer ebay member, so i couldn't contact him about it, few euros loss, not a big deal after all.
-
Selling on ebay has become far more risky since ebay in its infinate wisdom stopped sellers leaving negative feedback on buyers.
Scammers can now raise disputes and leve neg safe in the knowledge that the seller can do nothing about it and to and ebay doesn't care as it still get its fees.

That somehting went wrong with the postal service of possible one of several countires.
Having at one time worked for a parcel company at one time 6 years I can tell you that a lot of things go missing.
I think the lasck of negative feedback on 500 sales and as a valued member of thsi board that the conclusion is that possibly the boards never turned up.
if your attitude was like this from the start I would refuse to deal with you as well. It works both ways.
-
@ Tension
well its your opinion and youare entitled to it. Since when is it down to you to decide who discusses what where.
-
Sadly thanks to fleaBays new feedback system buyers have nothing to loose, some are most likely taking this to their advantage and getting goods for free as I speak.
I would like to meet the man/woman who thought that was a good idea...

Aaah the total asshole "Ideal" has the balls to show his face. Mr "Ideal" who went around on message boards bad mouthing me and filed 2 negative feedbacks (for <$20 worth of merchadise) without ever contacting me first. Despite all this I was professional, but considering the circumstances I think I will make public all relevant information.
Buttholes my butt!

What customer did I deal with in public? Did I name a name? Ideal is NOT the customer, he has been banned ever since he filed 2 negative feedbacks without contacting me.

I will post more detailed information later, for now check this gentleman's (and I say that losely) feedback left on this transaction.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=AllFeedback&userid=redrumloa&iid=-1&de=off&items=25&page=29
Keep in mind this feedback was left without ever contacting me first. Why did he do it? Hmm, think back to Jan 09. Who was one of the primary people leading a witch hunt for my "waay too cheap" remark. That's right, our friend Ideal. Character assassin, period.

Well I want one, my brother wants one and... errr... ummm... not sure. Still at that price you can only buy 2 in a shop. :)
Perhaps I'll put them on eBay over the next 10 years. LOL

Wanna get my butthole in the fray; Customs does in fact open f-ing everything, lick all the items, then re-package them, and send them on their marry way.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought "Who the hell is going to buy something that is called "International buttholes"?" :D

It is certainly time to quit!!! :furious:
I think the buyer should have contacted you directly first. That would have definately been best, for a number of reasons.
But not everyone buys on the internet often and ebay is known for many scams and he might have been using the Paypal claim feature in an effort to best protect his buyer protection rights (in his view). And as I understand that feature, at this stage it does not show negatively in any profile of yours, so so far no harm done. You also say its day 11 (as of yesterday). But the message you quote says you gave the buyer a tracking number on 9/20. This is why he is seeing it as (and saying) it appears in 15 days USPS did not get the package yet (from 9/20 to Oct 5th).
Now what I am guessing about what happened is that you provided the tracking # on the 20th, got it to USPS a few days later (which is reasonable of course) and now 11 days after they have it the buyer is freaking out (since you say it was indeed "day 11"). One question is, did you let him know in addition to the tracking #, the actual hand-off date to USPS to know when to start counting days? And did you let the buyer know that the USPS website for this is CRAP, total CRAP when it comes to timely status updates? I'm willing to bet that the damn site said the same thing for Ideal's packages for much longer than reasonable, and he quite possibly never knew that they eventually confirmed that indeed you did not rip him off until someone, looking at USPS.com months and months later, sees it says it left Miami and wondering WTF he was ever talking about. (Seeing that now for himself he owes you an apology).
I once had an international package where USPS.com only updated it accurately about a week after I received the item late. If I ever had to use them for international shipment I'd be repeating in CAPS over and over not to trust that site as up to date. They are great for domestic tracking, thats it.
Bottom line is you can't assume all customers are smart. And people do get scared if a trusted name like the USPS is not saying the same thing as some internet seller they never met. To a buyer what they see that scares them is "This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.". To minimize your own frustration I'd suggest its best to clearly communicate upfront (if you want to minimize this kind of experience) that the USPS may inaccurately say that for a while and that "Delivery status information will be provided if / when available" is no joke, it may come slow from them, if at all.
-
I hear ya Red. I'd just stop selling internationally. Just Canada, USA. I'd make an exception for upstanding/long-term AO users. I would trust an AO user before an anonymous ebayer.
-
**** Jim! I just wrote up a 4 paragraph note on this whole topic, only to have been booted off A.org in a time out session or something!? This new site, ahem... calming down now. lol
Just wanted to say I totally feel your pain regarding International orders. ALL of the countries you mentioned have typical patterns of "lost" mail. It was only $20 for crying out loud. And yes, seems like character assassination for sure. You unblocked and started communicating with some of us again after 'the hunt' as you put it (lol) and this is what you get. :-(
My .02¢:
Ideal - Redrumloa sent out your ****, period. That's obvious and while you and some of us have differed in the past on other topics, Jim is NOT a thief OR a rip-off con-artist. Everyone knows him well enough to make that observation. If you purposely bought something on the cheap, just to have a conveniently "bad" experience to assassinate his biz on ePay - than shame on you! If that's not the case and you truly feel duped, then know that packages DO get lost all_the_time abroad. As an adult that trades internationally, you should know that by now. The feedback you left was totally inappropriate. Hopefully you two can come to some kind of agreement, retract the awful feedback, grow, learn and move on.
-

I quit selling on ebay after dealing with doomy long ago. Its, not worth the trouble dealing with deadbeats. I likely to get doom-blasted writing this. haha. I have to admit, I found his videos intertaining if not enlightening.
-
My 2 cents of '€' :
I did many deals with Jim, and I live ... in France.
But I took care to ask him not to send in some holidays periods !
During these periods, customs get mad and open lots of packet without care. And can retain the content if it doesn't complain with the EU "environemental" rules such as RoHs and don't contact the concerned people.
Also during these periods, "post services" are overloaded and use saisonal workers, and packets are shocked, damaged, and sometimes lost or got their "new" references (all packets got new "local" references when they arrive) wrong....
Take care about what you declare on the green sticker too... the highier it's, highier is the risk of problems in the chain ...
A new "wave" is the neighbourg delivering, the packet is delivered at one of your neighbourg because you are not there, without leting you a clue of their passage...
Lets hope that you are not at war with a neighbourg like mine ...
An another "wave" is not to put a "passage/contact" paper when you are absent.
So no way to retrieve it... And depending of the country, it is returned after 5 or 14 days in the best solution if you have took an insurance for return, but if not, it's destroyed or given or reselled ...
If you have to ship internationaly, take a "look" on local "annuaire" such as pageblanche.fr/118712.fr to check the address. You can also ask for a print of it's ID card.
USPS can't track well enough international package as in time.
Only FedEx, EMS/Chronopost, UPS can.
Jim, if you have some problems with french guys you can contact me.
-
Interesting that this thread has come up because I am just beginning the pain with a buyer in Portugal. He paid on Friday, I shipped on Monday (from UK, by Airmail) and tonight, I get a Paypal notification that this has gone to dispute for non delivery.
The buyers ebay account is no longer active and all the activity was in the last month. I suspect a scammer, but have to rely on Paypal's dispute process now.
Is it right/fair to share ebay user IDs for those with which we have had problems?
-
Is it right/fair to share ebay user IDs for those with which we have had problems?
I reckon it is. Otherwise other buyers/sellers will have the hassle with the same deadbeats. eBay and PayPal hardly make it easy to sort out trouble once you're in it, so its better to just avoid the trouble makers to begin with.
-
Well, first I'd say that it should not only be right for us to share EBay user ID's of people that have scammed/attempted to scam, it is Vital to do so....
A number of us here on A.org have seller accounts on EBay.... Any number of things can go wrong in any transaction, not just EBay, and not just internationally.... But with EBay's current policies, it's difficult to deal with, Heck, Good luck even finding a specific help page. Red, if this person is no longer registered, can you contact EBay and get the feedback removed?
I have been Very lucky in my international EBay sales.... My scariest moment was after selling a 1917 German cavalry helmet to a gentleman in France, and finding out from the USPS that although the selling price was ~$980.00 US, the maximum insurance value was $750.00 .... except they would only pay $500.00 in the event of loss/damage.... What the heck????? Thankfully, he got the helmet, though I asked him to E-Mail me before leaving feedback... but I chalk that up to the language barrier.
Nowadays, Most of the time I list items as for sale to US and Canada only.... A few times I've had inquiries from elsewhere... I E-Mail them a couple times, if it 'feels OK' I might agree to sell to them....
Jim, you might take up CLS2086's offer, he knows of what he speaks.. :)
-
I interest am wanting desire for bass boat for transport to nigeria but will need your information to deposit moneys in account for generous bidding. Can you send for pay?
Truly yours, barrister smith

Have to say, that despite our differences politically, I trust Red implicitly when it comes to business and is probably one of the few people I know who I'd be willing to trust with my wallet.
As for Ideal... Very interesting that you popped up again. Anyone might begin to think that this was a setup between you and your friends.
Not impressed. Sorry Red to see you shut up shop, hope things turn out better for you in future on this line.
-
I hear ya Red. I'd just stop selling internationally. Just Canada, USA. I'd make an exception for upstanding/long-term AO users. I would trust an AO user before an anonymous ebayer.
Im sorry to disagree on this MagicM, but i can read on second lines that every potential buyer that is located in any country other than Canada/USA could be a potential scammer?
Im located in....Argentina. One of the most corrupted countries in the world. (And maybe the most corrupted country to deal with Amiga related items, since every time i have to go to Local Customs and "explain" them what is the package i received (Amiga gear), the ALWAYS want me to pay them money so they can have me the package).
Sometimes, they ask up to 500% extra in "taxes" they made up in that moment like "this card looks like new, its impossible that is form a Commodore Amiga, even tough it says 1992" (like a Blizzard card). "For us, its a new card and you are trying to scamm us". That is why i beg sellers (from here, from other Amiga forums and from ebay, to declare item as gift/non working hardware/non commercial value) so no harm to anybody, and i can have the item without having to leave a kidney at Local Customs Office.
They even know me, they call me "The Commodore Freak", in front of my face and they make fun of me, trying to suck all my money from my pocket. They never can.
Truth is, i dont agree to pay them money this way, as they already have an income every month (and you should see the cars they have!!! I dont do things left way. Im always doing thing right way, i hate that people here in my country, which is a lot, believe me.
In the same place, we have the police here. And if you did something wrong (like crossing a red light with your car), you dont get a fine, instead, they tell you "everything ca be fixed in a minute sir, just check youe wallet". So, they straight ask you for money!!!! I can tell you hundres of stories like this, but thats not the point here
My point is, that there are evil people everywhere, i dont agree that all good people only lives in USA/Canada (Hell, my father lives in USA and he is not a good person!!
Seriously, i have done many, many business with Jim all over this years. He sent me stuff straight to my house in Argentina, sometimes he sent items to my fathers home in Florida. Never EVER had a single problem from him.
I even recommended all my Amigan friends here to buy from him without hesitation. He did sell some cool stuff to my friends, and yes, there was some knucklehead among them, but, as far as i recall, he didnt claim for a refund (right Jim??)
So, i have dealt with people form many, many countries, here, on ebay, and on other Amiga sites. I have been most of the time a buyer, but sometimes also a seller.
I never ever filled a claim for a "lost item", simple because i know that chance exists, and that is VERY possible that item "gets lost" (meaning, ends up in some of the Local Customs Officers pockets, specially if they see something like a CD/DVD, or cards that to them look like "expensive PC cards")
I have even waited more than 4 months in order for an A1200 to arrive from Australia, by sea, which was by far the cheapest way of sending it. Do you think i put a claim on the australian guy? Not at all!! You cant imagine how happy i was when i received it! I almost cried because i wanted that machine so so bad!!!!
And this guy fills a claim because 11 days after he didnt receive a package? C´mon, gimme a break, come to live to Argentina, and then you tell me about waiting for a long to receive packages!!
My last experience was in Amibay. I paid a small fortune for a Viper 520 card.
The card never showed up in my country (at least, i never received a notification to go to Local Customs to pick it up). Instead, it was in storage for 1 month and a half, and suddenly, it came back to USA
I contacted the seller, who is a true gentleman. He gave me tracking numbers. He spoked with his local Post Office. I did the same with mine. Amazingly, the package went back to USA, and for some odd (but amazing) reason, package was re-sent to Argentina without notification and without having to re-pay for shipping.
It ended up in my house, 3 months later
You think i did a claim or i exposed the seller in the forum?
So, please, reconsider your saying about sending stuff to other countries.
In this place, and on 2 or 3 others, are the only places where i can buy Amiga stuff from true amigans. If you simple stop selling/sending abroad just because 1 or 2 rotten apples, it would kill me, and would kill all the other honest people around.
Excuse me for the long reply
@TheMagicM: please no hard feelings here my friend and please dont make it personal. Im only exposing my ideas so we can all have a global idea of the situation (instead of a "local" one). I only disagree with the point of only selling to Canadian/American buyers. I strongly agree with the idea of selling to long term AO users or other famous Amiga sites (not as famous as AO, of course :roflmao:

While Im with Red on this Subject I have to also agree with gavilan.
You afe just a likely to get ripped off by people in your own country as anywhere else.
There are evil/un-honest tools everywhere.

This is where it gets dicey. Keep something in mind here: while I don't agree with having to pay duties or taxes, there IS usually a substantial monetary "value" and you're asking us to commit fraud by "fudging" the numbers. Where this really becomes a problem is when the package actually does get lost or damaged. All the international customs forms I've seen always have 2 boxes for value: declared value (this is where you can check "gift") and insured value. At the request of a customer once, I was asked to enter $5 gift and then insure the package against loss or damage at it's full ePay purchase price. Well, the clerk at the USPS had something to say about that - and it made sense. It was clear the customer wanted to avoid unnecessary taxes on something he bought, but in no way would either post office honour an insurance claim had something gone wrong. And actually, last time I went to dispatch something, I wasn't "allowed" to insure at a higher rate and declare at a much lower. Maybe they're cracking down now like everything else. Seems everyone has to get their money for nothing these days.
Oh - and Argentina sounds like a real lovely place to live. But then again, so does 98% of South America. I hope, wish and pray things turn around for you guys down there. The drug and corruption rings HAVE to cease, but we all know it never will. Seems you've kept a good sense of humour about things though, so that's good.

@save2600: Please , dont take it wrong. Maybe i didnt made myself clear and didnt made my point. Im not asking you, potential sellers in any way to commit fraud!! Im an honest guy, who pays the bills like everybody does, but i cant stand when this corrupted Local Customs Officers want to take your money just because the are in the mood. In front of me, everytime i go there, i see huge boxes full of electronic equipment (notebooks, digital camera photos, netbooks, computer accesories), which go straight to the owner, just because they made an agreement (I know about that, you pay them 300 dollars a month, like a fee, and you have green light to import anything you want on the left side).
Im always on the right side, i dont like to be involved in corrupted acts. We have laws here, that clearly say that if an item you import is not built in Argentina, and you are not leaving somebody with the chance of loosing their jobs because the item you imported is much cheaper than local market, then, you dont need to pay any kind of taxes. Amiga stuff, like many other electronic equipment, is clearly NOT build in Argentina!!!
I pay ALL my taxes every month, but i dont consider asking sellers to declare as gift and then to put value in 10 or 15 dollars to be actually a fraud. In case the package is lost, i have no right to claim, im aware of that, and i always explain that to the seller. So, if by any remote chance package doesnt arrive home, i cant do anything but swallow my sadeness. See my point? What i consider a fraud, on the other hand, is Local Custom Officers claiming for your money in a way that is 100% corruption.
If i had to pay a reasonable amount of money, a reasonable tax not something out of this world, i would be the first one paying that.
But, imagine that i cant pay 500 dollars in taxes (just in "taxes"!!!), by a PPC card i bought for the same prize. We even dont get paid in dollars!!
1 dollar = 4 argentinian pesos. 1 euro= 6 argentinian pesos. 1 british pound= 5.50 argentinian pesos. Average income in my country: between 1500 and 1800 argentinian pesos. We have a very much devaluated currency. Its a very hard task to raise money to afford Amiga stuff (and we all know the are not cheap by any chance!!!)
I dont need packages to be declared with insurance. I clearly state that i take the risks involved, and, as long as the seller agrees with me (99% of the time), we end up having smooth transactions. They even charge you basing on the insurance! For example: lets say you send me a PPC card. You send it to me as a gift. Its value? Lets say you declare its value for insurance in about 600/700 dollars. Well, the local custom officer reads that (imagine they dont read english, they barely read and speak spanish, so most of the times i have to translate to them) number, and begins using his calculator, doing some kind of "maths". Then, it looks at me and he says, "You have to pay me 500 dollars because if this is insured for so much, surely its a very expensive item, and bla bla bla"
What would you do if you were me? Honestly
I know, Argentina is a LOVELY place to live. Too bad is full of argentinians  (typical local joke). And do i have to resign and get used to be involved in a corrupted system? Hell no. I try to do my best, to be a better person every day, and to wish that someday we will have politicians not corrupted, police not corrupted, etc etc etc. Maybe its an uthopic idea. Yes, maybe im a dreamer, but as long as i know, dreaming is still free, you dont need to pay taxes for that
And yes, i always keep my sens of humour up. Otherwise, i couldnt stand living in a place like this!!
I have been very tempted to record the moment in which they ask me for money, and then upload it to some public place and to send the material to some of my friends working in local tv networks, to explose them, but i guess if i do that, i will be in some kind of black list and i can forget about receiving Amiga stuff in the future... :roflmao:
Hope i made my point little clearer now, and please, dont think about me like some kind of thieve or a guy who wants to commit fraud, or who wants you to commit fraud

Oh no, no, no. I get where you're coming from. I was just generalising when I said: "you're" before. It does happen often when dealing with international trading. It's just a shame good people are "forced" or "tempted" to do something "left" (as you put it - good one!) but in this light, what is obviously corruption and extortion under the guise of taxes, I am not empathetic for a crooked governments plight. And I'm not (civilly) judging either, just pointing out some of the inherent hazards of dealing internationally is all.
And yes, honestly - *if* it can be avoided, I prefer not to deal internationally - for all the reasons above. But when I do, it's nice that both parties understand and accept the risks involved. Your proposition of declaring for cheap and not insuring is clearly the way to go if you do not want to pay unfair taxes. Just be sure you're dealing with mature and well established traders though. As most of the members here on A.org are :-)

Maybe get your TV friends to do an expose type news report like how they do in the USA where TV stations use hidden cameras and whatnot to record bad people and then they show it on the news for all to see.

Wow, glad Ideal never bought anything from me! After some holiday sales of some music equipment, I quit selling/using EBay earlier this year. I had too many users asking if I'd be willing to break my bass into two boxes so I could ship to Pago Pago.
Red is an excellent seller and will be missed! Never ever had a problem and the shipping was always super quick.
Funny, Ideal seems to have disappeared...

I've bought a few things from Jim, and I've know him to be nothing more then a gentleman, a scholar and a perfect business person.
Even when I was shipping some stuff to him, mind you we had a massive ice storm the spun the midwest into chaos for, where i couldn't ship his stuff on time. Had he been the thief that some people are saying that he was, he would have been more then happy to try unscrupulous things.

You are one to talk. When will you pay me back the 1000NOK you stole off me on the pretense that you were selling me a pc cabinet.
Buyers be aware, Eivind Espenes is not trust worthy.
-
Its a weird world. I think someone needs to re-look at life. I watched a kid nearly die in a crash a few days ago, spine, legs, blood....tears fear and screaming. All for a sake of getting home 5 mins earlier. I stayed and held the hand of the lad until the ambulance came. I forget to look at my computer that night....didn't seem important anymore.
The reality is...@Red, it doesn't matter, you win some you loose some, ces't la vie @Ideal, you got to have a little more of a reality check, you can't go around smashing windows and not expect to get hurt. If you don't get the goods, make it as neural and put it down to experience and pay for the insurance next time.
The likelyhood is its got lifted at the airport, as does loads of others every day. Airports don't give a f*ck either. Nor does anyone else. and really in the end. Nor do we. Maybe thats the real problem.
-
Red,
I admit I haven't read all three pages of this thread... But I know what you mean, I am getting them too. It seems that the Italian Post Office is the worst offender.
I have a question though - IF the tracking # does go far enough to say the package was accepted by your local Post Office - who is responsible? Us, or the USPS/ foreign Post Office.
I really hate to kill off the foreign buyers right now with the U.S. Dollar so weak - but we are damned either way we turn.
-
You have no place to call Red a scammer. just because one transaction doesn't work does not mean you have to go and slander this guy. I have heard nothing but good things about Red so you and red should work it out your issues rather than you Ideal go whining like a little kid who hurt himself.
I have dealt with Red for a couple of years, and know other people in the trade who know him. He is as honest and fair as anyone will come across.
We will suffer greatly from his leaving this field. I don't think the average Amiga user realizes this yet.
-

Oh this just gets more and more interesting...
Excuse me, I'm going to have to take a little break - I feel my inner /b/tard calling.
-
I remember having bought a box of networkcards from Red, a pretty big box, that got shipped by boat I think in order to reduce shipping costs. It arrived three months later in front of my doorstep, undamaged. To be honest I never worried about it not arriving as I trusted Red completely :)

Not sure what you're refering to, but I have a certified receipt from my bank that I paid Eivind aka Ideal the money.
EDIT: Also want to mention that I've bought stuff a few times from Red, and always gotten excellent service. So it's funny that Ideal has such a adaptive ethics that he will point the finger on Red and forget his own transgressions.

Lets hope that you are not at war with a neighbourg like mine ...
...
Jim, if you have some problems with french guys you can contact me.
Exact CLS2086.
I had worries only with sellers EBAY of products coming from ASIA. French post office does not issue correctly letters and package, it is regrettable. Impossible to trust in them. Even for letters and package to be delivered against a signature.
Pitiful.
-
I've noticed a lot of Hong Kong bulk ebay sellers won't ship to Italy and Spain and some france, obviously non EU compliant electronics are binned. (Then put into landfill). Logic.
-
Sending a packet to my town (at 2km from Paris) to some family's friends in Ameno (80 km of Turin - North of Italy)... 14 days !
Just think that it took me 12h to drive to them...
In "Eco" sending mode, a packet took between 14 and 27 days to arrive to the "customs"... after that I all about luck...
Why so much seller refuse to send to Spain, Italy, France ?
Because so many packet are lost...
Because so many look like counterfeist items and are stopped by the customs without a word, and others some are stopped by post's providers for "personnals reasons"...
Because some doesn't comply RoHs and other Euro or local "laws" (NF/TüV/....)
Because the post's guys smashed it during basketball/handball/.... trainings
Because there was a strange moving sound coming from inside and take look and lost it...
And so on ...
I remember also quite well a packet with a Sega Saturn games with nice Irish stamps featuring painted animals. The packet arrived with just 2 stamps (which is impossible due to the weight), a few days after I went to my post office and saw the 6 missing stamps on the wall ... I know it was mine because of the irish post date print on them, and the cut of the round buffer...
-
I have placed some very complicated orders with Red and he always filled them correctly and professionally. No problems whatsoever.
-
I did wonder why International buttholes might be on sale, but joking aside....
@ Ideal
Red & I have done business in the past without issue, despite having crossed feelings about one particular matter. Two things I know Red does not do, is take peoples money & not ship the goods. Perhaps you should consider a new on-line name as Ideal is definitely not befitting your overwhelming, inappropriate & very slanderous behaviour.
I also knew some months ago about you ripping off Arnljot over the cabinet for a darn sight more money than a measly twenty bucks. Knowing Arnljot very well indeed with personal business, I know he would not kick up such a fuss if you had not ripped him off in such a manner.
Poor show all round Mr.

My wife informs me that my 2 packages from Jim arrived today. Cheers Jim. :)
-
A note on shipping to Italy:
A package was finally delivered, some 43 days after it was mailed Priority Mail International from just outside of Washington D.C.! Now I'll never know if the Paypal Seller Protection Plan works....
-
I wonder what was the packet's path during these 43 days
-
Umm hey Ideal, what the heck is wrong with you? The package was shipped and arrived overseas. Did you pay for shipping insurance? If so, the Postal Service will refund your money. Otherwise take it up with your customs agency there.
People like you are EXACTLY why Red posted this thread.
-
It looks like Italy is a singularly dangerous country to mail to, unless we use Express Mail International. Much of the trouble seems to be the Italian Postal Service. One package I had mailed Priority Mail International took 43 days to get delivered!!! I am so glad I have an honest customer, who told me it had been delivered, because the tracking on this one died asfter leaving my city.
It's getting harder to win....
-
It's getting harder to win....

you know, for a minute i thiought that someone had found a copy of a rare, previously unknown game called "international buttholes"

Been looking for a copy of that movie everywhere.
I hate all the foreign subtitles.

Nope, most of them are in politics.

:furious:
Hi,
@red,
Hey Red,
You can't quit yet,
You sent me a tracking number on my purchase of an Amiga 1000 back in 1970, I have faithfully been tracking this number since that day and as you can recall through our million and one discussions on this order number the package has gone through Spain, Italy and is now on it's way to France and then hopefully through Germany and then to me in Pennsylvania. The next time I do business with you I will definetly follow your suggestion to use UPS shipping instead of regular postal service.
So you better not close down until I receive my parcel, you promised me that you would be helpful in any way that you could until I am completely satisfied with my purchase. If you close down and quit before I receive my purchase, I will definetly give you negitive feedback on your salesmanship.
As you said in our last discussion, it will only be another five years or at the most 7 years until I receive my Amiga 1000, anxiously awaiting the completion of this transaction.
Thank you Red for your great support and fast shipping on this transactionn

I hope people continue to sell international and overseas.

So please continue to sell to internasjonal buyers. Not everybody lives in the US.

Has anyone had success using eBid? I am fed up of ebay and finding it almost worthless once their 20% from paypal and fees is taken into account.
I use Gumtree (more popular than Craigslist in the UK) but find that it doesn't generate nearly as much interest.
-
Red - good
AmigaKit - good
Software Hut -good, long waits sometimes
Vesalia - good
I have used all these vendors and have never had a non delivery, I 'm in US.
Some have better automated systems for tracking and updates, AmigaKit shines in this regard. Normally, anything overseas gets automatically transfered to the USPS - a default; shipping systems are just not that sophisticated moving across boarders or continents is my conclusion.
Some of you have been really screwed by shipping situations sounds like, probably because these systems don't deliver to the underside of bridges.

I think it's great that you decided to drag this up, then I can tell people what really happened.
I understand that your mother took ill with cancer and all that, and that caused you to have some sort of emotional psychological breakdown, what I refused to accept however was the way you took that out on me. You decided to pick a fight with me over something as trivial as a football match. Whereupon I simply hung up the phone and told you "I don't have time for this", rather than go on with your discussion.
You then proceeded to bombard me with text messages, getting more and more irrate.
I then returned a text saying "please let me know when you have calmed down", as I assumed you would later apologize to me for your rude behaviour, and normal service would be resumed.
Not so.
Instead I was bombarded with 20-30 texts of various threatening degree, invoking anything from police reports to "my mother is dying from cancer, you bastard", etcetera.
You then came round to my house and rang my doorbell for 20 minutes continuosly. I'm sorry, but I am not in the habit of opening the door for people of psychological illness who are behaving in an unstable and threatening manner.
I have been awaiting your apology as that would be the normal progression if two friends have a falling out. However it seems you are not mature enough to realize your mistakes.
As a matter of courtesy I will take it upon myself to mail you the computer cabinet, and I wish you all the best for the future.

I'm desperately searching for a reason not to close this thread....
Ideal bought something.
Redrum shipped it and it left the country. This has been verified via the tracking system using the code given.
That should be the end of the story, save that Ideal will need to check with his own customs office to find out what happened to the package, and why it was never released or sent BY THEM...
A piece of advice, though annoying. If you're selling something internationally (or perhaps even nationally) take a few moments to document (via photographs) the box that you're sending, the contents, and perhaps even the shipping label with codes.
Then share them with the International Butthole in question so that there are zero doubts as to what has been done and what should be done next.
Redrumloa, aka Jim is not at fault here, so again, why shouldn't this thread be closed?

I think It's a bit like Dr Phil. Lets everybody understand the issues of customs in some countries and the importance of pre and post sale communication. Valuable to all amiga heads. And entertaining in a voyeuristic kind'a way. Especially late at night.

@Ideal
I have a copies of all messages we have exchanged.
I never called you names in our messages exchange. If you like I can post our messages online, but I would think that you wouldn't like it as it were you who were doing the name calling.
Even so, I think it's interesting that you first only now when called out on the stealing is contemplating mailing the cabinet, as our agreement was that you should deliver it the same week, and I have a message from you that I "should just forget about the cabinet".
Still, it's funny that you think that any kind of behaviour on my part - however false claims you make - justifies you stealing money of me. I've told you per SMS many times over that I consider the deal broken and void and want a refund.
Then you go on and attack Red, I cannot let that pass by unoticed. It's just too rich, so I drew attention to it here after you attacked Red quite harshly and in a manner which the situation did not warrant.
Yes I talked to the police. You'll be glad to hear that there is nothing they can do. They do not consider you taking my money and not delivering a crime, immoral perhaps but not something that is covered by their jurisdiction. It's a matter of a failed contract. You did not hold up you end of the contract and it's simply not a police matter. It's a matter which I have to take up in civil court if I want my money back.
Given your attempt here on character assasination on me, calling me mentally ill and exchaggerating and falsely portraying the facts here it seems to me that you choose to ignore the fact that the deal is now void and cancelled. And stick to your story.
The day I called you, you were already late delivering the cabinet and I was calling to ask when it would be delivered.
You were watching a football match, and was very excited about that. Good for you. When I politely told you that I don't like soccer/football you and asked about the cabinet you said "If you're gonna be like that I won't talk to you".
I got upset when you hung up on me. So I texted you saying that I wouldn't stand for any nonsense, and I called to ask when you would deliver. You replied that since I was so rude I could forget about that.
After that the verbal abuse per text from you started. I then realised that you had turned on me, much like you have - perhaps behind their backs - on many other Amiga users here in Oslo. I texted you the next days, and tried to call you a few times. Since I was being ignored by you. No text replies, and no answering the phone I stopped by your home. I spent some five minutes outside your door while a Taxi waited, I couldn't afford to have the taxi stand there on meter for 20 minutes.
The apology you wanted. You got an olive branch per text a few weeks later where I extended a hand trying to end the situation.
That message too being ignored I texted you and told you I'd go to the police. Too bad the police can't/won't do anything.
And finally. I have never threathened you with anything but the police. I thought it was a matter they could deal with. And yes I brought up my moms illness in two of the eight or so messages I sent you over a two week period. I did so in an attempt to shame you to do the right thing. But it obviously didn't work on you. My mistake, I shouldn't have bothered.
Now enough time has passed so that I find this funny in a way. It's funny how you think you're entiteled to an apology when you break a deal and ignore contact attempts trying to solve the situation.
I was very angry with you. Now, I won't spend any more time on this. I just thought that I'd comment on the "20-30 texts", "mentall illness", "mother is dying", "bastard", and "threatening".
Facts: 8 to 10 messages. My mistake of bringing up my mom. Never used profanity, you however..., and I never threathened you with anything but with the police. I am a registered pacifist as you well know.
I hope it's not "all Africa" at your place anymore. And that you got to buy something else than dog food to eat for the money you got from me. Also I hope that you don't have to steal in the future to avoid eating dog food. Doing you the favour of paying days in advance of you handing over of the cabinet is the worst mistake I did. One I will not ever do again.

Like I tell Ideal initially here, I had to bring it up the way he jumped on Red just seemed hypocritical. Ideal has never had anything nice to say about Red when we've had discussions face to face prior to this and I have always wondred why. It's always been about other stuff, never about stealing. Which suggests to me that Ideal pretty well knows what he's doing and what's happened.
So instead of taking it up with the postal office, he turns his frustration and anger on Red.
I know at least another user who has received verbal abuse from Ideal when dealing with him. That user with a CSPPC from Trondheim can himself tell the story if he likes to. I haven't talked to him, only heard Ideals portrayal of that. Which I now see how he operates.
@Red
Sorry that this takes up place in your thread. I just found it hilarious that Ideal should have anything on you. Which you have proved that he hasn't
@Thread/gertsy/others
I'm glad you have your fun. I'm able to smile of this too now. But being almost £100 out of pocket because I thought Ideal (Eivind Espenes) was a friend whom I could trust, had beers with and a plan to start an Amiga club with, has taught me to never pay up front for anything.

Is this guy really eating dogfood?
Oh, and sign me up on the miles long list of folks who *never* had a single issue with Red.

I'm desperately searching for a reason not to close this thread....

Reading the continuing thread this morning. That is after Ideal reported posts in this topic twice, I was thinking the same thing. I decided to wait til this afternoon to think over weither this topic had any redeeming qualities. I can't think of one other than as a life lesson and that is done already.
This topic is just one person ranting at another for a perceived wrong. Which they have been proven wrong on. Looks like end of story.
Case closed.
