Title: does amiga 'caligari' need a dongle ?
Post by: rednova on October 05, 2009, 01:22:19 AM
Friends:

I bought a complete, second hand version of caligari for amiga.
Included is the original disks plus the manual. But no dongle.
I followed the instructions in the manual...and installed caligari.
The program starts..the menu appears...but the program is completely locked and is impossible to do anything, nothing works. I thought at first that something must be wrong with the disks...but now I realized maybe what is happening is that caligari needs a dongle, to unlock the software.
I did buy original caligari for amiga, used. It came with the disks and manual. It came with no dongle.
does amiga 'caligari' need a dongle ?
Thank you!!!

Well, there were actually 3 flavours of Caligari for the Amiga: Caligari, Caligari 24 and Caligari Broadcast. I cannot remember which flavour nor the specific version, but surely one of them needed a dongle at some point.
It would be nice if you could tell me which flavour do you have and which version is it.
On the other hand Amiga tosec applications 0.23 holds some version which does not require a dongle to use.

The Tosec version is called Caligari v2.4 (AGA), 3 disks.
