Hey everyone. Remember back when we were younger and you could walk into a newsagency and find many different Amiga magazines to choose from? Do you miss those days when you could read an Amiga magazine on the bus or at school, finding out about all the latest news, game reviews and hardware expansions? Well, fear not, as the world is not completely devoid of Amiga publications.
In this thread I'd like to list every magazine currently being published or worked on that includes Amiga content, as well as link to places where you can download new issues or purchase older issues of magazines now out of print. I don't know them all right now, but I'll list as many as I can think of, and if anyone knows of a magazine I can add to the list, please let us know here and I'll update this first post.
I will separate the list into two sections; Print magazines and downloadable/printable magazines. You can still find some print magazines in newsagencies around the world, and there are many others that can be easily obtained by subscribing online. I'll also list the languages the magazines are available in. Some magazines are Amiga specific, while others are general computer/games magazines with regular Amiga sections and articles in them.
So, here's the list!

micromart had a tiny little amiga news section last time I looked too.
-
I just ordered and received from Amigakit issues 79 and 80 of Amiga Future in english. Each issue came with a cover CD which I haven't had the time to check out yet but I have checked out the articles. They are well done and informative and I must say that actually holding a current printed Amiga publication in my hands after all this time is quite a thrill.
-
Hi Cammy, please don't forget NewsTek. It has 10% Amiga coverage to try and grow the market outside the Amiga community. The digital issue currently on sale is only .99 cents with a new issue right around the corner.

They still do. I read it every week, it's awesome. Cammy even got a mention in it with her games thread.

Thanks guys, I can't believe I forgot some of those! I was very tired at nearly 3am, having stayed up all night and doing a five-hour long workout through the day, my brain just wasn't up to remembering all those magazines, sorry for missing out on some.
-
Ahh i miss the good old days when i would just walk into any shop and find loads of Amiga magazines like Amiga Format , Amiga Action , The One , CU Amiga etc...
Good to hear that there are some magazines out there still being published .
There is a good website , i think Amiga Magazine Rack or something which has lots of old issues of Amiga Magazines online .
-
There is also the Greek Amiga Magazine of the Greek Amiga Community. You can find it in downloadable versions at http://mag.amigahellas.gr
-

Obligement is a french online magazine :

Thanks Daff!
Keep them coming everyone, I'm sure there are more magazines with Amiga content online or in print somewhere in the world. :)
-
Good idea guys, thanks for the good work :)
-
You're welcome, Domi73 :)
I have just added a few more downloadable magazines to the list. Some of them can be printed out on a standard printer or at any printing place, and one of them can be burned to a CD!

in italy there is Bitplane, http://www.bitplane.it
-
Thanks guys. I've added a third section now for websites containing scans of old magazines, since these are collections contributed by readers rather than official sites, but they're still a valuable source of information from the past!

Thanks for the mention here. There are a few other magazines that I've discovered on my travels around the internet. These may not be 100% Amiga dedicated, but are worth considering a look.
Lotek64 is a German based magazine for older game consoles and home computers. Because of its wide popularity, the Commodore 64 is the main focus for the articles but other systems are not excluded. The printed version is available to purchase while the PDF version can be downloaded for free. [ http://www.lotek64.com ].
Retro is the name of a multi-format retrogaming magazine from Germany. It is available in print form from [ http://www.retro-magazin.de/ ]. Back issues in PDF format, along with a CD-ROM, are also available to purchase.
Pix'n Love is a French retrogaming mook (magazine/book) that is published quarterly. The mook contains over 100 pages, has its own regular sections including Generation Retro, Arcade, Consoles, Micros, Retropinions and News Pix'n Love. The A5 mook can be ordered from their website [ http://editionspixnlove.fr/ ].
C&A Fan is a Polish magazine dedicated to Commodore's two most popular computers: the C64 and Amiga. Also known as Commodore & Amiga Fan, the magazine has been running since 2007. You can download the digital version of the magazine from [ http://www.ciafan.filety.pl/ ].
Classic Video Gamer Magazine (ClassicVGM) was recently launched in May 2009 and is an English print/digital magazine from the USA that covers a wide range of retro console/computer systems with articles, reviews and more. The PDF and print versions are both available to order from the website [ http://www.classicvgm.com/ ].
As for magazine scans, as mentioned in previous posts, Amiga Magazine Rack is one of the best sites, if not the best, for Amiga scans.
Old Computer Mags [ http://www.old-computer-mags.com/ ], also has a collection of Amiga magazine scans.
Also, keep an eye on Out-of-Print Archive [ http://www.outofprintarchive.com/ ], which has just recently launched and will include Amiga scans in the future. OoPA not only scans the magazines but edits/touches up the scans to look like their original condition.

For some reason I can't edit any of my older posts anymore, so I can't update the original list!

For some reason I can't edit any of my older posts anymore, so I can't update the original list!
I see what you mean. I just checked one of my posts within a week of your original post in this thread. (September, 2009)
"Edit" button is missing, whereas the "Edit" button does exist for recent posts.
Could this be in relation to the switch to vbulletin then?
IF everything prior to the switch to vbulletin is not editable, then just quote original post and add to it.
If there's a better solution, please post it.

Hey Cammy look what I found! A secret Amiga online magazine called:
Spacehawks WorldNews
http://emeric.dema.hu/pages/200406/menu.htm
It features many issues and articles, mostly all written in the secret propietary encrypted language of the legendary Magyarian Empire.
But some articles are in English, such as:
SpaceHawks' WorldNews (http://emeric.dema.hu/pages/9903E/totalchaos.htm)
-
Sweet!
Thankx Cam!
-
CVG Magazine - http://www.classicvgm.com (English)
I think that you've accidentally quoted a wrong web site here, as that leads to a Classic Vehicle website - Classic VGM - and the only place I have seen CVG (Computer & Video Games) is on the Amiga Magazine Rack - http://amr.abime.net/issues_35
Thought you might like to know so you can correct it. Though maybe you can't as it's from 2009, and you've already said you can't amend the original comments
-
Oh that's a great resource, thanks Cammy. I didn't know there were that many print ones around.
-
always look forward to my copy of Amiga Future in the mail:)..thanks to Andreas & the Team for giving us such a great printed magazine:drink:
-
Umm, this one:
CVG Magazine - http://www.classicvgm.com (English)
From the original post, takes me here:
http://www.classicvgm.com/
Which is just fine cause I like old cars too. :)
-
It looks like the classicvgm domain has switched hands since I posted the link to it, but it did indeed originally point to a new videogame magazine which didn't seem to last longer than a single issue I think.
-
A very nice collective list of Amiga related info, Cammy. Kudos for keeping the fires burning.
-
There is a bbs where you can download the commodore mag...I think its midnight blue...when I get home i'll boot up the Amiga and post the address here.
