Title: Change an icon with another
Post by: sim085 on September 29, 2009, 08:09:21 AM
Hi,

I would like to change some icons however do not know how to do so! Also are there any tools on Aminet that could help me achieve this? Note that I am more interested to change one icon with an other rather then edit an icon per-se.

Regards,
Sim085

IconCopy works with a simple drag and drop into windows. The icon you already have goes in to the left window and you you drag the new icon into the right window to change it if I recall correctly.

CopyIcon44 works for OS3.5 and OS3.9

Thanks, IconCopy works like a charm :) I have another question - When I select an Icon and click on the Information option, some icons are referred to as "Project" and others as "Tools".

What does this mean? And how can I change this?

A project icon, or rather a project-file, often requires a tool to open it.
F.ex; A document written in a wordprocessor would be called a project,
whereas the wordprocessor is the tool/program that opens it.
This is a simplification as the textdocument could be opened in other programs too.
Within the project-icon, you can "associate" which tool should be used to open it.
I use 3rd party programs to change the type of file, so I can't give you an easy
way to change it.
Besides Projects and Tools, you also have Drawers (folders) and Trashcan as icon-types...

And disk icons, too.
