Title: AmiKit Style Tool and TaskBar -Push4Dock
Post by: mchaggis on September 03, 2009, 12:39:36 AM
Hi all,

I'm trying to make my OS4.1 install a bit more usable by installing a Tool and Task bar; after a bit of googling I found Push4Dock and at first glance it appears to be everything I want.

Firstly, let me be clear that I'm not knocking Push4Dock in any way. If I can (with your help) get it to work I'll be very pleased.

The readme with Push4Dock said simply to execute the "Install" and that would be all. So that is exactly what I did.

Unfortunately the instructions didn't cover the need to Assign Work: so the installer failed. That however was easy to rectify and I did so, then ran the Install again.

Push4Dock cleanly installed this time and I rebooted as per the message on the final page of the installer.

Unfortunately when WorkBench started, I was inundated with with error messages relating to missing icons, about 20 messages in all. After deciding to ignore all of these messages, I ended up with half an installed toolbar, most icons were the default icon, and there was no "Windows" style "start" button.

I then tried the install again, going through the same reboot cycle, except this time I tried to locate the missing files as Push4Dock started; I found most of them, but it didnt make any difference.

Then I installed the AOS theme; despite the readme saying just click install, nothing changed after the install. I've still got a broken Push4Dock toolbar.

Does anyone have any instructions / readme or advice with Push4Dock? It looks like a good utility, and seems very similar to the one in AmiKit.

Or is there some other OS4.1 specific alternative that I should be looking at?

Thanks,
Derek.
