Nice article and (again) great photos of your A1000. Hope to see more in-depth articles on your experiences with OS 4.1!

Me too...
And perhaps blakespot said in another thread that AmigaOS 4.1 experience is not in any way resembling the confortable experience he had with MacOS X.
I.e AmigaOS 4.1 is still just hobby OS compared to MacOS X.
I hope he could explain us what AmigaOS 4.1 lacks of, and the major bugs he found, so we could pass these feedback infos to the Friedens and hope that they could remove soon some major gaps with mainstream OSes...

The problem when people talks about OSX vs any OS is not objetive, no one says what OSX lacks of anything more usable or system errors, just good word for the beloved OSX.

Well, I will say - the first thing I notice when I leave OS X -- and this goes for any other OS -- is the lack of Expose. God, that's a useful thing, especially for a single-monitor setup.

:-)
My other complaint would be that the system freezes up - (no Guru / Grim Reaper, just freezing) a good bit. Reboots are fast, but it's frustrating.

Well, I've been a fan of OS X since well before it was OS X. That is to say, I've lusted after NeXTSTEP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nextstep) since 1988. Grabbed a 486 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakespot/2386025958/in/set-72157604338323127/) in '94 to run NeXTSTEP for Intel and even, later, grabbed a NeXTStation (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakespot/2378242121/in/set-72157604337928535/) and an HP PA-RISC box (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakespot/sets/72157604303889717/) to run the OS. And I only went back to the Mac when I heard that NeXT was taking over Apple.
So...I'm kind of biased. But yes, I am quite satisfied with Mac OS X.
