Title: Nominations for Board members of Non-Profit to purchase A.org
Post by: amigadave on August 21, 2009, 09:31:12 PM
Those of you who are in favor of having a registered Non-Profit organization, made up of members here, purchase and run A.org in the future, please submit your nominations for Board of Director positions for such an organization.

I would ask that they be registered members of this site and they will be contacted to see if they will accept such nomination.

I suggest we keep nominations open for at least the next three days, but if you think we should keep nominations open longer, say a week, just indicate that preference in your replies to this post.

Let me stress that there are other people interested in purchasing A.org and this is not the only option available to us as members, it is just one suggestion that I and a few other think will work well.

Thank you for your help and contributions to this process.

I would nominate Karlos, but I believe that he would make a better WebMaster than Board of Director's member (though I am sure he would serve excellently at either).

Hi guys,

Over the past three days, I have been very overwhelmed with the support shown by our members regarding the potential sale of Amiga.org... I am literally humbled to know that there are some of you who will go to great lengths to preserve this great site for the future. It proves to me what an incredible community this always has been.

That being said, I'm very happy to informally announce I have received an offer from a person I trust with the future of this site. He, his partners, and I have come to a tentative agreement regarding the sale and subsequent transfer of Amiga.org.

Once we iron out all the particulars and a contract is signed, there will be a 3-month transition period to follow during which time absolutely nothing about the site itself should change.

All of our current moderators will remain (should they choose to do so), only my successor will need to be chosen by the new owners, and I've made my recommendation to the purchaser as to who I personally think would be the best person for the job.

As I promised when this drama began, absolutely nothing about this site will change in the foreseeable future, save for one staff change. Both I, and the potential owners are in complete agreement on that core ideal.

Amiga.org has always, and will always exist to support the Amiga community as best as we possibly can and I will make absolutely sure that you are all kept in the loop as to any changes, as soon as they occur.

Even though I'm not going anywhere right now, I am honored by your remarkable support, and will always be grateful to each of you for the chance to provide Amiga.org to the community for all these years.

Congratulations Wayne!  I hope that it works out for you, but almost more importantly, I hope it works out for all of us here that remain.

Looking forward to hearing who the buyer(s) is/are in the near future.

Regards,

I did not mention the buyer by name, because that's up to them to disclose.  I just want everyone to understand and be somewhat relieved  that it's not Doomy or some other weirdo.  Furthermore, that I have a good background with, and an experienced trust with the person(s) in question.

I have no doubt that they will continue the site in the best interest of the community.  Hopefully better than I ever have, since I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve for the world to see sometimes.

I'd like to be the first (and last) to nominate KennyR, mips_proc, iamaboringperson and 440_dude. Their respective combination of caustic dour wit, unrivalled ability to steer a thread anywhere, repressed sexuality induced homophobia and last, but not least, complete inability to be anything but stoned out of their head most of the time should be pretty amusing.

You all thought I was going to say Doomy...

It's either that muscle dude from the Barbarian game ads, the short kid from Eight is enough, Chachi or Jens.

If it is Jens then I already own a.org what with all the indy's buddhas and bits and bobs I've bought:)

But my money is on Chachi.

Doomy is DoomMaster, aka Hans George Campbell. The guy is a legend, but for all of the wrong reasons....

He has a site called Retrogeeks and another called GreatGossip, which may or may not be still online. You should really take a look at them, they are quite 'enlightening'. If you want to see the guy in person, search 'Only Amiga' on Youtube, but have some mind bleach handy, because you are going to need it...

Good luck with your quest for knowledge, as to the origins of the DoomMaster....
