Title: AOS3.9 icons and 3 colors

Hi.

I have noticed that the native 3.9 icons have all of about 3 colors: white, black, and blue. I check this out in Reaction UI.

Then I notice NewIcons report in all colors that are available, look good.

My A1200 does not have a graphics card or 16bit screen modes going, just an Indivision card installed.

Does the ClassACT GUI not support the 8 bit screens, just designed for the RTG machines?

And if that's true, you'd be better off just installing NewIcons over AOS3.9.

Is it not down to the screen mode you are running?  What colour depth have you selected?

It's just NTSC High Res Laced, set to 64 colors.
NewIcons, appear normal.

That happens sometimes with a fresh install of 3.9 - the glowicons data isn't maintained correctly. Check the CD - the icons there should be fine. Just use them as replacements.

The standard 3.9 icons are only in 16 colours I think, you can download a nicer 'high-colour' versions that use about 64.

Is a shame they didn't code 3.9 specifically for AGA/RTG....oh well.

Well, still unsure about how some of these became 4 color icons, but I re-installed AOS 3.9 on top of my current install, while in a 64 color screen mode and this fixed everything.

Now I'm wondering, if I initially installed 3.9 in some 4 color caveman mode, that somehow the information was just truncated somehow. The file sizes of these mutant icons were less that the ones in the 3.9 install directories... there were downgraded in a way???
