I have worked out a deal with Amitrix to bring back a limited amount of SCSI-TV boards back to the community if there is a demand.
From the old Amitrix web Page:
Amitrix Development is proud to introduce SCSI-TV, a SCSI controller for the Commodore CDTV and A570 CD-ROM drive for the Amiga 500. This versatile interface allows the CDTV to connect to virtually any SCSI device.
SCSI-TV installs easily in the expansion port accessible at the rear of the CDTV or A570, without opening the case. A 2.5 inch Quantum GO drive may be mounted on the SCSI-TV circuit board and an external connector can connect to hard drives, scanners, and tape backups, to a total of seven devices.
SCSI-TV supports the Amiga AUTOCONFIG(TM) standard, providing autobooting capability with Rigid Disk Block support, as well as the SCSI-direct protocol allowing many backup programs to use SCSI tape drives. True DMA allows for fast data transfer rates and low CPU overhead. Full technical support is available to purchasers directly from Amitrix.
Each SCSI-TV comes complete with licensed versions of Commodore's HDToolBox and Workbench(TM) version 1.3. A provided adapter kit mounts and provides power for a 2.5 inch drive on the SCSI-TV circuit board.
Each SCSI-TV will be about $35- $40 (depending on parts, as there are a few PCB boards still around) USD plus shipping. We have one in stock now, and if the demand is there, we (Amitrix) can, and are willing to make more. PM or e-mail me for more information.
Both Amitrix and myself plan to bring some new hardware to the Community in the next year or so, depending of course on the PCB process. It is very exciting partnering with a hardware maker, and the Ideas are floading back and forth. We were dicusing yesterday the posibility of converting the SCSI-TV to IDE and putting in a compact flash drive. That is possible, but there are hang ups in software developent on that.

It it ever comes out, count me in for a couple of those!
-
We WILL be making them on confirmed interest, We are not asking for a deposit or anything, but if I can muster up a dozen or so names, they will be made up. Paypal payment for the completed board will be going to right to Amitrix.
more FAQ's can be seen HERE http://www.amitrix.com/scsi-tv-faq.html from the very old Amitrix website (pictures are broken, but Craig assures me he will fix that as soon as he gets back from holidays in 2 weeks)
I am even getting the first one for myself :)

I'll join that list if it helps.

Good,
Remember, this is not some "New" company or product. Amitrix has been around the Amiga community for something like 20 years. The SCSI-TV has and was a proven product about 10 years ago, and then Amitrix just sort of went into "sleep" mode for the past 8 years, until I came along. These Scsi-TV are a way of getting rid of some old inventory for Amitrix and seeing if it is reasonable to start again making more Amiga hardware fro the community.

I almost feel like ordering some in the event that I someday get a CDTV or A570.
Good work on getting AmiTrix interested. The thing with Amiga hardware is that even if it doesn't sell "now", odds are pretty good that it will sell "eventually" (at the same price) if people know it's available. Probably not a very traditional business model, and probably unsustainable if it were to serve as a primary source of income, but I feel like there are more opportunities out there for hardware (and software) production like this.
Any chance they'll make more floppy port networking modules? Those would be pretty handy for A500/A1000 owners, I bet.
-
Count me in for one of each !!!
-
One of each if the price remains the same.
What about the metal blanking plate for the CDTV version and the metal enclosure for the A570 version?
We were discussing yesterday the possibility of converting the SCSI-TV to IDE and putting in a compact flash drive. That is possible, but there are hang ups in software development on that.
What hangups? Clone the A600 Gayle IDE interface and there is no need for any software! The hardware design for such interfaces is already open-source.
You can already get a CF/IDE interface IDE68K (http://www.students.tut.fi/~leinone3/ide/ide68k.html) and the upcoming (v300?) plans to add 8+Mbytes of Fast RAM which could make it the best interface for 16-bit Amiga.

Count me in for a ScsiTv, great stuff!

I am looking into that now (e-mailing Craig). I will get back to you as soon as I hear from him. :)

I ask that interested e-mail me their names and e-mail (and how many you want) via the blog (amiga{AT}amigalounge.com so I can present a proper list to Craig.
Please and thanks.

hey Quarkx, tried emailing but it bounced?

How much people have iterest in this piece of hardware?
-
Thats odd, people and e-mails are getting through, try resending it. So far (between here and Amibay) the list is almost 2 dozen.

Email sent... Count me in

I need one.
PM sent.

PM sent.
If it happens, this is great,as I have both CDTV and A570 and wanted simple hard-drive solution for long time.

Please guys USE the e-mail amiga(at)amigalounge.com
just open an e-mail program and send an e-mail.
Aparently people think that they have to register and sign up at the blog, nothing is father from the truth. There is no simple "Click here" magic button, because that invites spambots, but if you all send your requests to my hotmail, gmail and pm's (here and at ami-bay), someone is going to be left out and then you are going to be angry at me.
Let's all TRY and keep this simple.
Remember these are coming from Canada, so keep that in mind- shipping may be prohibitive.
