Version 1.1.3 of the popular AROS distribution Icaros Desktop has been released. It includes updated system files and the initial release of the long awaited Poseidon USB stack. Icaros Desktop 1.1.3 is available as a single DVD-Live ISO or as a update CD. Users of Icaros Desktop 1.1.2 can update their system using LiveUpdater. Before downloading, please read carefully the release notes.

I think you might also want to build a cut down LiveCD as many older PCs, ideal for running AROS, only have CD drives and so can't run the LiveDVD.
-
That's not a bad idea, some of us don't have DVD burners either.

And so? What are they waiting for, to buy one?
Seriously: a DVD burner costs €15 ($ 22), and is technically hydentical to a CD-R one (you plug off the old CD recorder and plung in the DVD one, and you're ready), so the "some of us don't have a DVD burner" argument won't be considered, sorry.
More valuable is the old laptops issue: maybe I'd consider a cut down CD edition for them, but I am afraid most of them won't have enough horsepower to run modern applications (OWB, MPlayer) at decent speeds too.

Well the DVD drive I had hooked up to my old MiniITX board that is dedicated to AROS, died... I managed to find an old CD drive in the cupboard... But I will never buy another Optical drive now... that technology is long dead :)
-
I second Bloodline's request :-). Mainly because of an old laptop that cannot boot from DVDs

no shit sherlock!

....
modern applications (OWB, MPlayer) ...
OWB is not in *any* way comparable to a "modern" browser like FireFox !
It's not even comparable (as an application) to outdated browsers like AWeb or IBrowse.
Just because u get so excited by being able to navigate Google Maps in OWB, it doesn't mean it is modern!

I'd need some feedback from people using VirtualBox. It's the first time I try to release a Virtual Appliance, so please download this:
Icaros Desktop VE 1.1.3 Virtual Appliance for VirtualBos and others (http://mirrors.lezard-visuel.com/icaros/Icaros_VE_1_1_3_vof.7z)
And tell me if it works correctly for you. You'd need VirtualBox version 3.x or better. Thank you

Please, if you don't even understand the meaning of words, just shut up and avoid silly attempts to create a flame. OWB is a 'modern' application because it needs modern degrees of horsepower to run (which is due both for the use of a SDL engine, and for the needs of modern web pages). Mplayer is also barely usable on old laptops, unless you use it with low resolution videos like the ones ran by classic Amigas in the old good times. And laptops without DVDs generally lack of horepower.
Edit: anyway, a reduced version is now officially on agenda.

Maybe you could boot it from a usb pen drive?

I'd prefer they avoided silly attempts to resuscitate the Amiga, be it Hyperion or others !
PS. Are u really comparing OWB to FireFox ??
