Title: New software for classic Amiga?
Post by: orb85750 on August 01, 2009, 07:21:32 PM
Are there any companies producing new software titles for the classic Amiga at this point?  I know that for the C64, there are a few companies doing it (e.g. Protovision).

The only software title in development for classic that I'm aware of is Tracker Hero: http://www.terra.es/personal8/937611204/trackerhero/index.html

Team Chaos is still working on Total Chaos 7: Conflict of the Battlemages (AGA)

Though AGA development may cease at any moment.

I think the member here called Cammy is still involved with a group that are writing games for the Classic AmigaOS3.x, but will let her speak for herself as I do not remember the name of the group.

We still develop new Classic Amiga software such as EasyADF (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=694), EasyGS and EasyNet (http://shop.amigakit.com/catalog/easynet.php)

We hope to release more software this year.

It's Underground Arcade.  There is a website in the works at http://www.underground-arcade.com/ (http://www.underground-arcade.com/index.php) if you're interested.

Cool.  The only concern is that their last blog entry is 15 months old.  Do you know whether they're still up and progressing?

It is. a couple of months ago Cammy was looking for some talent for cleanig up some sound and other things. Not my forte really.

If you have a little time to spare and can contribute, contact her.

I think they (Cammy and RebelCD32) lost the password to the blog.  I talked to Cammy on their IRC room on chat.AmigaWorld.net and she said she is going to learn to program in AmigaE.  They have pixel artists and level designers so they are mainly needing programmers and sound support.

I try to chat with them as often as I can so they know what is and is not possible on classic Amiga hardware.  It is looking at this point as if Halloween Nightmare will come out for AGA chipset first and later, OCS if ever (primarily due to the narrow size of the sprites on OCS/ECS and the 512k maximum Chip RAM addressing on OCS).

Underground Arcade has lots of plans for games on classic Amigas but not enough manpower to complete the job.

Hiya,

I created and I'm currently hosting the underground-arcade website.  Unfortunately things went very quiet after going to all the trouble of setting it up with no updates to the blog or to any of the projects.  I'll prob end up taking it down when it expires :(

NovaCoder,

It seems as not everybody is on the same page here. Can anyone help get this group together? I don't have the resources to make this happen now.

No, it would appear not.

If I ever get the time (ha ha ha), I might try and create a new developer forum and link it to my website to see if that can generate some movement.

Argh, I just typed up a huge reply and tried posting it, but this stupid forum gave me an error, and when I pressed back, the text was gone.

I wish the forum still worked like it used to.

By the way, yes there's lots of Amiga software development and games development going on.

I sometimes get that when my connection drops mid send.

Best thing I've found is simply to copy paste what you've written, then send. If the worst happens you just paste it back in and try again.

Hope this helps :)

I've got a couple of AGA chipsets waiting to get warmed up over Halloween Nightmare.
