Hi Folks,
I remember when my friend got his new Amiga way back, not sure if it was a 500 or not. Anyway, he got a cool audio cassette with it that had a really great song on it to demo the audio on the Amiga. I haven't heard it for years and I'm getting nostalgic about it, anyone know where I could listen to it again?
Thanks,
Nick, Ireland

That sounds really cool, but AFAIK, NO Amiga's sold in the States came with a demo audio tape. That sounds like some real proactive marketing. The computer for the creative mind wasn't marketed all that creatively here ;-)
Reminds me of that Sharp campaign: From Sharp minds come dull products. lol
In the mean time, there are plenty of mods and digitised Amiga tracks out there to enjoy on your Amiga...

Thank you Save2600. That's interesting. I definetly remember the Amiga branding on this tape and the music kicked so much arse!

Yeah, don't get me wrong - those video tapes of yore were really awesome, but Nick's talking about an audio cassette of Amiga music. I wonder if Atari ever did anything like that to push the fact they had built in Midi?
But back to Amiga Makes It Possible... that wasn't a pack-in with any of the computers, was it? I remember having to send away for it...

Wow i didn't know they did that either. I remember my Commodore 64 coming with an audio tape when I got it, but that as about it. My first Amiga 500 or subsequent A1200 didn't have anything like that.

Well folks I hope I have this all correct and have not confused things through the passage of time. It was at least 15 years ago.
The tape definetly had "Commodore" writen on it. Maybe it could have been the 64 but there was great excitement that he had got the new 500 at the time. It was me putting it together that the cassette came for the new 500 he got and not the 64 he already had....

Thanks Nishtek but that's not the one. I came across that one too, "Only Amiga can.....", it is cheesy indeed!
The one I am looking for is all digital, synths and whatnot.
It's getting more and more elusive!
:)

It could be on the B-side of a cassette called Toolbox. It came with my C64 I think, and told you how to set up the hardware etc. At the end, the guy says something like "Why don`t you check out the Amiga range from Commodore, amazing graphics, wonderful sound etc etc... You can hear some music made on the Amiga on the other side of this tape"
It was a good tune IIRC. Think I still have the tape somewhere...
Hmmm....

I think the music you're looking for is "Shufflepuck Cafe". The music from the this game was included on side B of the Commodore 64's Tool Box Introductory Audio Tape as an example of the Amiga's musical capabilities. I should imagine the music demo was probably the same on the Amiga tape.
Download the Shufflepuck Cafe game by Domark (1989), fire up your Amiga emulator of choice and see if that's the music you mean.
