Title: 5v from Apollo 1260 card
Post by: mikolas on July 28, 2009, 11:29:51 AM
Hi!

Does anyone know any easy spots on Apollo 1260 card where you can get 5v for a CPU fan? The card has 060 installed, but I'm going to overclock it to 66MHz so I need to install extra cooling to the CPU, just to be on the safe side. I guess a basic heatsink won't do at this speed. I know it would be easy to get 5v from the floppy connector, however I don't any unnecessary wires to prevent accidental misconnections etc.

Mikko.

Go with the floppy wire.

You dont want to end up burning a trace, which would be much worse.

You can get 5v from the pins where the voltage regulator connects. They are through-hole and so they are available on the underside of the board.

Most CPU fans are 12V btw.
