Title: What a shock
Post by: swift240 on July 26, 2009, 06:46:22 PM
Ok I have had an Amiga for years now desktop and in tower.

For some timer I have had problems with my Powertower setup, like as in Mediator and its what I thought problems with Workbench 3.9.

So I got my other spare parts and made up another Amiga in original desktop, but same problems, so after an very agravating time I put it all away.

So ok here it is, I striped down the Power tower completely and then made it all up again to find same problems.
So I am running a CD burner and a DVD rom. I took out the CD burner and in its place an ordinary CD rom, to find now its running rock solid and so smooth with no problem what so ever.

I then decided to make certain that it was the CD burner by placing it as master then slave then on to Primary as slave but same problems. I tried every way to try to eliminate the problems, but no the CD burner is the problem itself.

So after all this time it was the CD burner, so I took out the dual layer DVD/CD burner from my PC and used that to prove a point, and I was right the Amiga still is rock solid and works perfectly.

So its off to ebay to get a DVD/CD burner.

I never thought in a thousand years it would be a CD burner to cause this much problems.
As a matter of interest the CD burner was a Lite-On LTR 52246S, there was a time of course it was all perfect but after some time it some how just had a problem with itself, throwing me off the track completely, I even blamed the Mediator.

If you haven't already, you might try installing the drive on your Windows PC and updating the firmware, then install it back into your Amiga and see if the problem still exists.
