Title: Install AOS 3.5 3.9 from CF card or other media?
Post by: TheGoose on July 20, 2009, 03:00:55 PM
Has anyone tried to install AOS 3.5 / 3.9 from something other than the CDROM? My latest project will not have a CDROM or a floppy, but does have a working PCMCIA CF adpter working fine.

Any way this could work or be tricked into working?

Thanks for ideas...

I've done it with 3.9 from a different partition on the same disk by copying the files over from CD on another machine.

edit: I remember having to assign "AmigaOS3.9:" to the folder I'd copied the CD's files to for running the Boing Bags as they ask for the CD.

Ah! (assign "AmigaOS3.9:") this is just the trick I was thinking might exist. This sounds promising - thank you Tone007.

Yeah, I thought I was pretty clever when I figured that one out. ;)

Good luck.

It worked!

I did not even need to do the assign for the AOS3.9 install disc. I just went over to my XBUNTU laptop and did the copying on to FAT 95 CF. Moved it back over. Then took a chance and clicked on the install for AOS 3.9. It bitched about not booting from an emergency disk, gulped my beer and clicked next.

Went straight from OS3.1 to 3.9 no problems from PCMCIA CF card. Cool.

:drink:

yep..i installed 3.5 from CF card via PCMCIA port....just simply copied the dvd contents to the CF...and loaded up it up on my 1200 from the CF..and yes as tone mentioned I had to assign it :-)
