I've never heard of such.

I don't believe this is true.

If Linux could read amiga floppies, then it wouldn't have to be done through hardware, like flipper.          (I think the name is)

I wished there could be a simple software solution though, because I have some nice amiga apps on floppies.

Don't know what I'm gonna do with them.

Mountain_Myst is correct.  You would need a Catweasel ISA or Catweasel Mk3 Flipper floppy drive controller in order to read an Amiga formatted floppy under Linux.  You can learn more at individual Computers (http://www.jschoenfeld.com/) and Catweasel Advanced Floppy Controller (http://www.geocities.com/the_astronomical_pocket_diary/catweasl.htm).

Now there is a program under DOS, that can read miggy floppies, but it requires 2 floppy drives (quite a rarity these days), and is terribly slow, and unreliable.  I can't remember the exact name of the program, now.

If you can acquire an external Amiga floppy drive, and follow some
instructions from AmigaMOS.com... Something could be built :-)

Linux can, however, read Amiga formatted HDD's using the AFFS switch.
Though, you may have to let the package-thingy build it for you before
the switch is available.

Huh?

There's many ways...  FTP, NFS, Samba are all ethernet/network solutions, Null Modem connect, Parallel port connect, reading/writing PC disks on Amiga (CrossDOS), CD Roms (ISO, RockRidge, or even Joliet I believe a few Amiga progs support), Zip Disks (PC formatted), San Disk (If you have USB), need I go on?

What are you trying to do?

Amiga 500 <-> PC

How do I do this without the 500 on the net. Say I downloaded a program on the internet for the 500 what is the best way to move it from my pc to the 500.

Depends on if you're talking about a stock A500, or at least some expansions.  I had thought you were dealing with a more expanded Amiga.  (my bad)

The options on a stock A500 (AmigaOS1.3/1MB RAM) 1 floppy drive, are rather limited.  Small files can be put on a 720kB PC floppy and read/write on the Amiga with CrossDOS (provided you can find a copy of the old 1.3 CrossDOS diskette) Large files... well, what are you going to do with a large file on an Amiga with an 880kB floppy and 1MB RAM, anyhow?

If you tossed some extra RAM, AmigaOS 2 or greater, and a SCSI controller into the Amiga side, though, a lot more possibilities open up...

Oops!  I thought this thread was about Viagra for computers!

But, now that I'm here... What version OS you running??  I believe CrossDOS came will all after 3.0 (right?)
Other than that or networking, I can't think of a way, though others probably know of several.
