I know this is a silly question but there are conflicting reports as I have read that a A3640 can only fit on an A3000 with a Ramsey and buster upgrade, but i have also read were people claim to get it working without one.
My question which one of these is true how easy will it be to hook it up on my Rev 9.02 Board (new PLCC's, Kickstart 3.1, Battery, and WD SCSI controller).
and if i need the 2 extra chips what is the price range i am looking at?
and does anyone have any for sale?
Regards

There is only one way to know for sure if it works: try it.
In some machines it works, in others it's unstable, or worse: doesn't work at all.
DMAC 4 is very hard to find, and therefore very, very expensive. For that money you could better get a Cyberstorm MK2 for instance, which also gives you the option of an additional 128MB RAM. (yes, I've seen DMAC's in the same pricerange!)

make sure the A3640 is V3.1 or V3.2 board. V3.0 doesn't work.

As long as you're using Kickstart 3.1 and a version 3.1 a3640 I've never had any trouble installing one in several A3000s, Rev 7s up to Rev 9s.

I used this page when I installed the 3640 in my 3000D. Has all the jumper info you need.
