I've got an A500 with 1mb RAM, change the 1.3 ROM for this 3.1 40.063 ROM, now I'm getting "checksum error on block xxxx" on most diskettes, is this the famous incompatibility issue??? I've tested workbench 3.1, it runs fine, then Amiga Explorer gives me checksum error.
I thought Amiga Explorer was 3.1 compatible

One of the things I found between my A500 and 1200 was that the latter was a great deal more sensitive to disks. Perhaps something changed in the drivers but the result was I had to be a hell of a lot more careful.
Tbh if you're going to use a third party addon to accessing disks, do so with something like Opus. It'll save you a whole lot of pain.

Not really. KS 3.1 is somewhat better at detecting and reporting errors, however.

So, I need to fix most of my floppies?
I'll go back to 1.3 then :(

You could try a kickstart rom switcher, then you could boot into 1.3 for old games and 3.1 for more 'modern' stuff.
