Title: B-17 Flying Fortress and 2 MB Chip probs
Post by: jjans on October 28, 2003, 04:50:19 AM
I just installed a DKB 2 MB MegaChip into my A500 with HD. It is running WB 2.04 and 68030.

Prior to the installation of the megachip, Microprose's B-17 Flying Fortress has worked fine.

The chip seems to work great on most games thus far esp Blue Byte's HistoryLine 1914-1918, and The Settlers. Naturally, B-17 refuses to start with the new chip. I put the old 1 MB Agnus (8375) back in and presto! I was again off to Fortress Europe...

For chits and giggles, I tried B-17 on WINUAE with the 1 MB Chip setting and it worked OK. I switched it to 2 MB and got the same black screen.

Anyone know a solution for this?It has been ages since I have actually sat done to play this game, but now of course it is bugging me (simply 'cause I can't..)

There's a program called "degrader" that makes expanded systems look like the older ones... maybe it would help.. I'm sure it's on aminet somewhere...

(This would be a perfect place to insert a mil-spec joke, but I'm above that sort of thing...  :-D   )

Yes, Degrader has a "OneMegChip" option that
should do it.

Thanks, I'll try it. By the way, I got my parnet cable to work, thanks to you guys for your advise earlier.

B-17 has been quite problematic to run with A4000/060 but with TUDE or Degrader, 1 MB Chip and OCS emulation it mostly runs, even with caches enabled.
