Title: amiga 1200 used in final destination 2 extras
Post by: amigamad on October 28, 2003, 12:56:12 AM
i was having a quick look at the extras on the final destination 2 dvd when i looked at one of the films testing someones heart and blood pressure, While watching the film to see what reaction they had to it. when they panned to the computers and the monitors there next to a pc was a desktop a1200 it seems even medical people prefer the a1200 compared to the a2000. not sure what they were using it for though. :-)

Yes I'd like to see it. Maybe the doctors the director studied just liked to play skid marks in surgery :)

What are they  talking about when the A1200-scene appears? Is it possible to connect a standard A1200 to a flat monitor?

Seems something about statistics (standard deviation?), or an RGB spectrum?

It is possible to connect the A1200 to any SVGA monitor with a scandoubler as long as the Sync is above 31Khz...

The Atari ST (http://www.gametribe.net/classic/atari/st.jpg)

Amiga 1200 (http://www.btinternet.com/~devilment/pics/1200.gif)

Very similar, could be mistaken for each other in such poor lighting conditions.

@Downix

That is not an ST, and it is not hard to tell at all. Look at the colour of the keys and look for the STs top row keys wich are missing etc...

No its an amiga 1200 the keycaps color are 2 colors on the a1200 and i have owned a 520st and i have 3 a1200 s i can compare it to .a 520 is nearer the size of an a500.

The a2000 is a militry spec machine and the a1200 is a medical spec machine . :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

I clearly see a difference... The picture had an a1200, the shape of the ST is way different

downix:stop that trolling, it wasnt even a good one.

anyway thats an amiga1200 and thats an RGB monitor (flatpanel) and that supports modes from 15khz and up!.

which is why i want one of thoose monitors!

beyond that, i reallyyyyyyy would love to see an interview about this case! , someone who wants to do that or what?

an interview with the shock terrapists :D

@Downix

Are you blind, or just trolling? Its clearly an A1200. It has an A1200 case shape, A1200 keyboard, A1200 LED, it looks like an A1200. Unless someone put an Atari ST motherboard in an A1200 case, its not an ST ;-)

Being colourblind myself, I had no problems telling it was an Amiga 1200. Even if your colour-perception is bad enough that you don't recognise the A1200's two-tone keyboard, there's the shape and the layout of the keys...

There's no need for some of you to be so nasty about it however. ;-)

It's a TRS-80 Color Computer II !!!

Err.. wait on second glance, that is a pretty sexy case design...  Yep it's a Medical Spec A1200.
 :-P

Umm..  That we don't know what we are talking about when it comes to medical spec machines?  Just a guess though :-)

A specialized hardware to monitor the cardiac activity through time is the Holter (used to monitor cardiac activity for 24h). It's an ElectroCardioGraphy (ECG), which unveils arithmias etc.

In this case would be used to monitor the heart beat rate (noting the frequency increase on high adrenaline levels).

This is like a walkman? :-) and you have to pass the registered data to a computer for analysis. I doubt that the amiga has such an interface or software.

Here is a site (http://www.mikety.net/index.html) with medical related amiga documents (Radiology education using the Amiga computer), and another one about hardware (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/gamma.html) used for thyroid scintigraphy.

It's absolutely not an Atari - All Ataris I've ever seen have "leaning" F-keys.

To me it seems like the A1200 is used as a keyboard prop - seemingly belonging to the black case with the TFT on top. Perhaps some of the persons involved in making the movie happened to be an Amiga fan and wanted to throw in an easter egg.

...or it could be used to genlock stuff over the movie being watched by the test subjects.
The monitor and the set of red lights to the right of the A1200, above the office chair, could be an Amiga-compatible monitor and a genlock.

Absolutely not. ST cases can be easily recongnised by the shape of their functionkeys.

This is a 100% A1200! Nice...
