Hi!
I will buy this new adapter for PC: Transcend Compact Flash ATA Adapter (TS0MCF2PC). My question is, that adapter will work on my Amiga 1200? How must setup the PCMCIA CF adapter on Amiga? We need any driver, or work automatically? If yes, drivers download possible (universal driver)?
Sorry, i'm a beginner... Sorry for my bad english :( Thx.

I suppose you might be able to write a dosdriver for it, dunno about drivers.
Tbh you would be better off (by far) by getting a IDE->CF adapter, since any CF card plugged into it would automatically be recognised as a hard drive. It would also leave the PCMCIA port free for an ethernet card.
-
You'd probably need a driver to be fair. If you want to go for a flash memory drive I suspect the ones that plug straight into your motherboard's IDE would be better. The PCMCIA slot isn't exactly quick.

LOL, beat me to it. I would say an ethernet card is the best thing to put in the PCMCIA slot if you use your amiga seriously amid other machines.

Some people got positive results with compactflash.device and smartmedia adapters.
Quote from cfd 1.27 readme on aminet:
Good news everyone:
I got positive testing reports from CompactFlash, IBM MicroDrive,
Sony MemoryStick and - taadaa! - SmartMedia adapter :^))
It may be required to re-insert the adapter after plugging the
memory card into it. Only for CompactFlash and MicroDrive,
the plugging order is irrelevant.
You can find the driver here:
http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/cfd
You also need fat95, cardpatch and cardreset.
Edit: My Transcend PCMCIA CF adapter works perfect with this driver, but it is a CF only adapter.
-
This is only for CF too. Thanks for all. I try...
-
Few adapters don't work, but take care with the CF card itself !
A lot are not compatible

Sorry, the link to the pdf you gave is about a smartmedia adapter, so I thought you bought that one.
I googled for TS0MCF2PC, and that adapter is exactly the one I have.
It works like a charm. Just install the software I mentioned in my previous post. You can find it on aminet.
Edit: I successfully tested this adapter with a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB CF and a Toshiba 128 MB CF.
Like CLS2086 already said, most of the times the CF card itself gives people problems. Usually Sandisk CF cards are the most compatible.

Hi, my adapter is the CF adapter. Sorry, webshop link.... Good news, i hope will work for me too!
-
I know you probably already bought it, but a simple rule of thumb is get it from AmigaKit. (or anything) that way, its already tested an known to work, comes complete with drivers and such, and ussually has AmigaKit's own software in it. I just ordered my CF adapter from them and it comes with ADF transfer software.
Its just to bad they are out of CF cards at this time

Hm. No luck. What do i wrong? I have unzipped fat95, cfd, cardpatch, cardreset to Work:. I have copied compactflash.device to devs:. I have installed fat95 (i think) by dbl click on install.fat95. (720k dos disk reads too.). Plugged the adapter with 16 MB san disk card :), dbl clicked cardpatch, than card reset, dbl click cfd's CF0 and nothing happen. Re dbl click CF0 says already mounted. cfddebug say cf device not active (or similar). Adapter? Card? I have no doubt...

8 Meg RAM card? No way, sorry. The PCMCIA slot requires that you limit fastram to 6 MB max.

Thank You. I try down jumper the card. -2MB ram and PCMCIA, i think correct.
Big thank for everybody !
