I recently upgraded my A1200/060 from O.S. 3.1 to 3.9 + BB2 and
all the latest libraries. Before the upgrade the disk access speed was
about 2,4MB p.s. But after upgrading to 3.9, the access speed is
only 1,9MB p.s.
How is this possible? There are no major programs running in the
background that would slow things down.
My HD is a IDE to CF adapter with a 2GB SanDisk ExtremeIII
compactFlash card.

Probably the 3.9 scsi.device, it slows down my A1200/060 as well. Try editing your startup-sequence:
c:setpatch SKIPROMMODULES scsi.device QUIET
Additionaly, Piru's SPEEDYIDE patch from the BlizKick archive adds almost an extra 1 MB/s here, with an IDE-Fix Express. (I could never get IDEFix to work with my CF cards...)

I thought that speedyide was only for use with Phase5 / DCE boards? Unfortunately i've got an Apollo1260.

Thanks dude, I will give it a try. :)

SpeedyIDE is for the IDE connector on your motherboard. But to use BlizKick at all you need a card that BlizKick supports; don't know if the Apollo is supported.

The SpeedyIDE module also works with RemApollo (http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/RemAPollo). :-)

OK, i've installed RemApollo with speedyide and the
"c:setpatch SKIPROMMODULES scsi.device QUIET"
command in my startup-sequence and the disk access
is now 2,4MB/sec again!
Thank you dudes for your good recommendation!
