I have a proposition aswell, why don't you just transfer the money onto my bankaccount and save lots of hassle and time?
-
hooligan,
Do you want him/her to think Amiga Users are a bunch of crooks?
To describe Amiga Users in one word I would pick, "Loyal"

Considering some of the debates on the site I'm tempted to pick "Crazy", but hey... I'm one of em so....
-
Could you share more information about the proposal with us?
-
Good luck - there's little to nothing heard or seen from them.
-
*shrug*.
A.Inc's been nothing more than a hollow shell for years now. I pity anyone who still considers them a viable partner in anything.

Who said anything about Amiga-users? But yeah, now that you said it, "bunch of crooks" is quite close to what we're talking about here.

You could try here*... (http://www.dharmamedium.com/) ;)

Ouch, prices, speaking of crooks...

On AmigaWorld.net an employe of Amiga (yes, the Amiga, as in Hockey rink supporter/hockey game creator) said that Amiga.inc is developing a new Amiga OS because Hyperion refuse to cooperate with Amiga so they need a new Amiga OS.
He also mention Bill is not that bad and it is weird that Hyperion does not cooperate with Amiga. So it makes you wonder just what is going on in the background.
Maybe the world doesnt know?

Actually they never supported the rink in the end. The deal fell through with the city of Kent.
I'm surprised anyone is getting email bounce-backs, their mail server is answering at port 25.

Interesting... Though it sounds like they aren't exactly interested in drumming up business if they're that hard to get in touch with. To be honest I (and I'm not alone here) would be inclined to steer clear of them, given their poor record of keeping customers happy and releasing products...
-
Amiga INC is NOT a computer-related company: they are money-washers. In othre words, the name is being used for illegal activities.
There's no new OS, no new hardware, NOTHING.
Acube, Hyperion and the MorphOS team are the only Amiga companies right now.
Accept it, damnit: there's only a criminal company behind Amiga INC.

Guys,
I understand that emotions run high regarding Amiga Inc, but I politely advise you to watch the rhetoric and name calling here, as the above does in fact constitute moderate libel. I realize AI has bigger problems, but saying stuff like this publicly COULD get you hauled into court, or minimally get this site shut down.
It's also possible -- though unlikely -- that the original poster wrote his request as a "test" to see how you guys would respond. If you're still rabid in other words. So far, FAIL...
I hold nothing dear for most of them, though I could consider McEwen a beer buddy. I just want you all to step back, take a breath and ask yourself "If I were Bill McEwen / AI, would *I* want to support a community who comes out and bashes us at every breath?"
So far, whether you like AI or not, we (the community) have been far more of a detriment to their movements than a positive. That includes ALL of the sub-plots of this soap opera from Hyperion, to Genesi, whose efforts have been spawned by AI's own.
Think of it a different way. Imagine there's some very deep pocketed billionaire out there wanting to buy Amiga and make them. He has his guys get on the web, and all they can report is that there is this rabid, nutball community out there calling Amiga Inc all sorts of names and making all sorts of libelous accusations...
While we should always have the right to keep AI on their toes, we have become far more a part of the problem than we should be.

You don't see Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer suing the consumer public when they voice a negative opinion about them and their company. The reason is its simply not done by any company thats actually interested in selling to said public.
As for asking yourself if you were Bill McEwen as a user. I'm sure many in the community could do a better job at repairing things if any of them were Bill. And there is no use in being mad at folks when most of the ill feelings are your company's own doing.
I understand you want to protect the board based on past experiences with Bill. But if he wants to sue potential fed up customers for voicing anger, thats just nutso IMHO.
-
Wow they spent 20 bucks at one time, they must have had a run on the evil snowman creator!

Now this arena is called the 'Showare Center' - I drive past it everyday on my way to work.... too bad I could'nt be driving past 'Amiga Center', it would have been cool!

You're welcome to that opinion, but I've expressly stated mine. One of the posting guideline rules has to do with not slandering or libeling anyone. It's my opinion that it was broken.
The difference is, rather than immediately deleting or editing it, I wanted to use it as an example of wrongdoing. If I, or a moderator, had simply deleted the post as we did in the past, you guys would have gone apeshit, driving the rhetoric even higher.
All I'm asking is that you consider the WELL POSTED rules, then think before speaking on these forums.

Nah, Ray simply reads this forum -- passing along info to the others -- and someone above reminded him it was time to renew. Had they not done so, it's possible it would have expired, but it would have not been available for months if at all to the "snipers" of the net.

Let us know if you are successful in contacting them. It would be interesting to see how you managed it and what the response was.

On the off chance that you are who you say you are and not just stirring the pot you might have better luck with Hyperion or Acube. As far as I can tell from Amiga, Inc's website their sole products are a half a dozen Windows Mobile Apps. The listed address for the company is small office above the Amish Touch Furniture Store.
There appear to be four offices above the store. Amiga is room 201, suite 204 seems to be occupied by Twelves Unlimited (a marketing firm) and Leeham Company ( marketing for Airline companies).
I just Skyped the number, you are right, it's disconnected...
Curiouser and curiouser.....

I'm starting to think that Amiga is powered by a black hole. Sucking in hapless companies, to their doom.
Of course the truth behind the Amiga epic/downfall is quite boring and probably avoidable.

Unfortunately I've to second this.
Several times during several month, I've tried to contact A-Inc with the request to license stuff from them.
A-INC never replied and never got back to me.

I find that information to be very hard to believe. A.Inc have ignored the Amiga community for years and have produced nothing that is of any interest to 99% of the remaining Amiga User Community since Bill McEwen took the reins.
Also, they have made statements and promises, over and over again, which they have not delivered on, so why should any of us believe this "supposed" Amiga Inc. employee now?
In my opinion, Bill has spent his investor's money on bad decisions and has just barely survived enough to support his family using the name Amiga to lure unsuspecting, or uneducated investors to donate more money to something that has little or nothing to do with the Amiga experience "AS WE KNOW IT". The guy has to make a living, I just wish he had chosen a different brand name to tie up and/or drag down yet a third or fourth time with him, and I wish he would move on and get a real job and let the Amiga go Open Source. Then we would only have one more group that is trying to make a buck from the Amiga name, and at least they are producing something that can be used.
Checked for slanderous comments, but if you feel this message is inappropriate, delete parts of it as you see fit Wayne.

It would appear that at the very least they have not properly maintained their contacts on the registration. Godaddy always sends me reminders that under their TOS, the contact information needs to be correct.
Wonder what they've told Hard Hat Hosting. Speaking of which they must be paying US$ 24.95 per month for their hosting. Is this more creepy snowman profit?
-
Just remembered that it's the second anniversary (http://www.amiga.com/news/index.php?art=28) of AI's "new Amiga hardware coming" announcement with ACK. New hardware has indeed arrived in the meantime - surprisingly - but neither from AI nor ACK (this being no surprise) but from Dennis and Acube. Good job.
-
If you manage to get in contact with Amiga Inc. and make a deal with them don't expect to get paid for your work.
According to glames from Boing Attitude they did not get paid for Amiga selling their game Word Me Up on Amiga.com: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=29028&forum=16&start=20&viewmode=flat&order=0#496608

Thanks Wayne. Just to be clear, I'm not questioning what you view as slander or libel. Or what you choose to moderate, or make an example of, at all.
What I am simply expressing is that Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer have been subjected to way worse and a much larger quantity of ridicule on the internet. And you don't see them threatening to sue private sector folks over that. Thats because when you are a public figure you are by definition more open to public criticism and because suing private individuals with no financial stake in if you live or die as a company is just bad business. Because once you sue folks that say they don't like what you are doing, who would want to be a customer of a firm like that? What would be next, suing me if I was on with your tech support because I was an upset customer with a tech issue?
So of course do anything and everything you think is right in general and needed for practicality to protect the site. My point is not in regard to that at all. My point is that if they went after that person, why would I, a seperate private individual want to go anywhere near them, ever, for anything?
-
Tell them "Happy New Year", because you'll finally contact them on 1st January of 3895.

This is the best amiga post I've read in the two years since I started being active again on amiga sites!

@Wayne,
I agree with most of what you said here. I myself have never been mad at Amiga inc for anouncing vapor after vapor, but what about the $50 coupon thing?. that was just a straight out scam!. You cant expect people here to not be mad about that!
-
You don't contact them, if they want to get a hold of you they will contact you.

in truth, when you posted to amiga.org. you contacted the "real" amiga imho

What kind of business has it's phones disconnected and allows it's emails to bounce and hasn't issued a press release for six months?

I got a mouse pad and a t-shirt out of it. I still use the pad every day. The t, well, it's long gone after painting the exterior of my house a couple of years ago.

I never got any T-shirt or mouse pad, how did you rate getting yours? :(
I have nothing good to add about Amiga Inc. or the people that run it, so I will refrain from saying anything.

Hmmm, email does seem to no longer bounce. They are a small company, maybe they can't afford IT staff. Hard Hat Hosting offers VPS on Centos so they would be using Dovecot for IMAP and POP, not too difficult to set up and run, I've set up the same system.
At any rate their mail doesn't bounce now, but their phones are still disconnected.....

Though I'd agree folks need to chill out on the comments some times, I have to totally disagree with the statement above. Ramblings on these threads have had a near net zero effect on the success or failure of Amiga Inc. A.I. has been eternally plagued by internal problems and that alone is their stumbing block.
If for some reason it could be said or proven that the reason A.I. couldn't ship hardware or an OS or even answer a phone was because user X on site Y said negative thing Z, then it would only doubly convience me that there is some thing seriously wrong with the company.
Sure mean things can bum you out, but it should never stop you from taking care of important business.

No integrity whatsoever, and holding the trademark hostage. Could it be any worse for those that actually care about Amiga? Yes, let's wait and see what is still to come.
