Title: OS 4.1 Install Problems
Post by: cehofer on June 10, 2009, 01:13:34 PM
I have an Amigaone with OS 4.0 which works fine.  However, when I upgraded to 4.1 I get the 4.1 splash screen and then it goes to black and no disk activity.  I followed the instructions creating a "swap" partition.  I have let it go a few minutes in "black" without any change and the monitor stays on.

4.1 boots fine off the CD.  I have formatted my "System" partition and have installed this three times now.   The AmigaOne has a ATI 7000 Radeon, 256MB and a 50GB+ drive.  I know it says you need a Radeon 9000 but it came with the 7000.

Ideas?

BTW, os4.hyperion-entertainment.biz is not working.

My machine also has a Radeon 7000 and 4.1 installed just fine. The only problem I encountered was down to my not remembering to tell UBoot to boot from CD first. That caused a lot of problems as the version of 4.0 on the hard disk had an obsolete (prerelease 3) version of kickstart.

Once I spotted that, installation worked fine.

The installation went fine without any errors or problems.  It is just when I remove the CD and boot from the HD.  The Kickstart bar loads instantly and then I get the OS 4.1 splash screen and disk activity.  The screen goes black and hd activity stops.

I don't see any hardware requirements for 4.1.  Is 256M enough?  I don't understand why the CD works but the install doesn't.

I upgraded uboot to the lastest on Hyperion 1.1.1.

On my A1 SE, since AOS 4.0 final update my Radeon 7000VE is no more supported !
Check if you have a R100 or RV100 chipset.
