Title: Problems with CV64/3D
Post by: trehune on June 07, 2009, 12:56:19 AM
Hello,

I recently bought a Cybervision 64/3D on Ebay. The problem is that I cant get the card to work. It shows up in Early startup as working, 8512/67. But neither CGX V3 R71 or Picasso96 wont recognize it.

If I check ShowConfig after boot, the card has changed to 8256/66, which is not a valid card. I guess that's why the drivers can't find it.

I tried to change Zorro slot without any luck.

Amiga 4000 / Cyberstorm MK-II 060 / 3.1 ROMs / Buster 11 / OS 3.9 with BB1/BB2
Tested setpatch with SKIPROMUPDATES "exec.library"
68040.library 46.5, 68060.library 46.7

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards,
Tomas

No real experience with CGX but what version of Picassio you running? also, if it was already installed did you uninstall it before swapping cards over...

I think the last version was 2.1b?

I have 3 of these cards in 3 different A4000s and various revisions and different zorro slots and never had any problems... have you got another A4000 MB you could trial out?

I have tried both P96 2.1b and 2.0.

I just tested a Vlab card in the Zorro bus and it works fine. I don't any other Amiga to try the card with.

Have a look and see if you have the CVision3D monitor in your Devs/Monitor drawer.

What slayer said about un-installing is VERY important to these cards. When playing around installing and overwriting previous drivers, you must be sure to choose UN-INSTALL first. Reset the computer and re-install Picasso96 (latest is 2.xx). Other than that, clean the edge connectors with contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol if you haven't already done so. Did the seller claim the card worked with no problems or was it an "un-tested" ePay special? lol

I have a CV64 (not the "3D" variety) that shows as working in Early Startup, but refuses to work, no matter what I do to it. By that measure, a 'non-working' indication following a reboot does sound pretty fatal. Provided it is not a contact/configuration issue (see what other said above - check also that the daughterboard makes good contact), I'd reckon it's broken. Where did you get it from?

P96 2.x worked great for the CV64/3D. Tips...
1. Make sure monitor in Devs/monitors is the P96 version and that the CGFX version is removed as others have suggested.
2. Make sure you have attached the setting to the CV64/3D board in the right most menu (use right mouse button) of Prefs:Picasso96Mode.

I wouldn't put too much confidence in showconfig. See if other analyzers say the same thing like Scout (on Aminet). If the board ID is changing then you should clean the ZIII slots but it could be a warped Buster socket (if socketed) too.
